yeah, I did my growing up phase in the Navy (which took about 5 minutes after stepping off the airport shuttle). I would've failed out badly if I went to college. My brain can only handle so much lol

Liberals have a legit gripe about college costs.

But I have yet to hear one point the finger at outrageously overpaid administrators and professors.

Or the government funding that made them possible.

I'm happy to have gone to school but can't stand education snobs. I have several guys on my team that don't have degrees, learned on the job, and kick ass...

Let's blame the students as the cause for the price of college to rise exponentially. Let's blame students because they know that college is required for the most basic of jobs now.

Yes, Let's blame students who only want to improve their position in life.

This might me the worst thing I've ever read in the DC. And I'm even still paying back student loans.

He's not wrong, we want an educated youth.

He just can't bring himself to ever point the finger at who drove the costs up, or Obama/Dem for his/their mishandling of the economy. He can spot the symptoms, but misdiagnoses the causes.

I'm pretty sure this is a problem shared by everybody with college debt, not just theatre majors.

But go for the low hanging fruit if that's what you desire.

What's the unemployment rate for people with college degrees?

Without college degrees?

And there you go.

It's a calculated necessity for anybody who wants to improve their lot in life, which is pretty much exactly what we should be encouraging as a society.

The problem is, we've saddled them with undue burdens that give us little additional benefit.

You seem to have a huge blind spot here. When you ignore the job prospect differences between a History of Sand Art degree and a Nuclear Engineering degree, your conclusions might be flawed. Not all degrees are going to buy you that cost-effective bump in employment opportunities.

This is a problem faced by everybody who is getting a degree.

You can pick at the low hanging fruit of theatre majors or whatever, but that's ignoring the broad base of people facing this problem.

Infusions of government money into education have inflated tuition for everyone, that's true. But at any given tuition level, the cost-benefit analysis for an engineering degree looks a lot better than that for a psychology degree. And for anyone who has to incur debt to fund their education, the prospects of surviving while repaying that debt are much better for the former than for the latter.
