Why not ObamaCare?

Now, I've been meaning to ask a couple questions for a few days now, especially since the government shutdown.

To me, the whole government shutdown thing seems like the most childish shit on the part of the Republicans. It really seems like it's a "If I can't have what I want, neither can you" situation, like the Republicans care more about their own agenda than what is in the best interest of the people of the US.

The main question I have though, is, what is so bad about ObamaCare? Now, admittedly, I don't know the ins and outs of ObamaCare, but is it not just health-care? If it is, I seriously do not understand what the problem is. It works for so many countries in which healthcare is already in place.

If ObamaCare is not simply just health-care then please educate me as to what the main differences are, and why it is such a "problem".

Thanks

I'll tell you why Obummercare needs to eat a bag of dicks while crashing into a flaming AIDS tree! Now this is only my personal experience but its part of how ****ed the system is.

Being self employed I pay for my own health insurance and have so for a number of years. My current policy is designed as a 'high deductible' plan. It's what health insurance should be, it covers me for 'oops' or 'unlucky' major events and preventative care. But for day to day issues I self insure. I have a strong incentive to take care of my health because it costs me if I don't.

My current plan has a $4k deductible, after that I pay zero and insurance covers the rest. It's blue cross/blue shield. Last year it cost me $141 a month, with the phasing in of certain parts of Obummercare this year it cost $176 a month( with no difference in coverage).

Due to Obummercare my current health plan will no longer exist come Jan 1st. But now I get access to great plans on the Obummercare exchange right??? Wrong...the comparable plan I'm offered now has a deductible that is at 4.5k(compared to 4k) and once I hit that deductible I pay 40% of costs until I hit the out of pocket max of $6350(compared to paying zero if I reach my 4k deductible now).

Sure with inferior coverage to what I've got now I'll be paying less right??? Not a chance, with Obummercare I'll go from paying $176 a month now to $297 a month in 2014. A $121 increase per month all for the privilege of having inferior coverage than what I have now.

So you can see how some of us want Obummercare to choke on a bag of dicks.

Okay, no doubt I see the issue in a situation such as yours. And I'm not going to pretend that I wouldn't be pissed off either.

One thing though, is, does it not benefit millions of people who cannot afford adequate health insurance?

Also, what are the stats for people who aren't self employed?

I carry 3 policies. Between them all my rates are going up almost$500 the first of the yea or I will have to accept deductibles. I can't prove its due to obamacare but what else would it be? Punished by my own government. Bullshit.

I don't understand why it has to be for EVERYONE...how come you can't just have a way for un-insured to get insured, like Medicare or some shit? Why do they have to blow up the whole goddam thing?

Because the only way to make it work for one is to force it on all. I guess...I dunno.

It's quite obvious we have a problem, skyrocketing costs and this seems like the nail in the coffin. Healthcare in this country is absolutely out of control. This will do nothing to "Control" costs, but push us further down the rabbit hole.

Are there actually any statistics to support the theory that the number of people that are oblivious to which political party the President is affiliated with has increased?

I'm seriously asking.

Also, why do you think so?

Too many brain dead morons that don't have a clue. This is how we end up with very few people voting and complete incompetence from the President all throughout the congress.

Because our government can't handle what's already on their plate and they're forcing this monstrosity down our throats as a huge power pull. It's like giving the skipper of the Valdez oil spill his own fleet as a reward.

It's ****ing insanity this is being allowed to happen.

The idea that the public sector was the best route to implement this kind of huge solution is laughable. Public sector technology is horrendous and the business processes are wildly inefficient.

Republicans have to put a reasonable counter proposal on the table because the health care system needsa massive ooverhaul. But there are lots of ways to do that without this far reaching solution.
