Prediction on the gov't shutdown & debt limit increase.

Congressional Democrats and President Obama will continue to refuse the government shutdown and debt limit increase as opportunities for political extortion.

Congressional Republicans will continue insist in some sort of concession before agreeing to fund the government or raise the debt limit.

To avert a default by the United States Treasury, President Obama will raise the debt limit himself, or do away with it altogether by executive order.

Justifiably seeing as this is unconstitutional, Republicans in the House will initiate impeachment proceedings, and impeach Obama in 2014.

The impeachment efforts will die in the Senate, but politically, the attempt to rejuvenate the base will help the GOP in midterm turnout.

There will be no debt limit deal. Perhaps ever again. The government shutdown will conclude when Democrats and Republicans agree to postpone or fully repeal the medical device tax in Obamacare in early November.

This is the same party that actually told the people "we have to pass the bill before we know what's in it". The same party that has already said "we can't cut spending anymore, we have cut all we can".

GTFO if you believe they would honor any agreements to negotiate later.
I think they might negotiate for show, but not in good faith.

I don't have one. I thought the Republicans would be in a worse position wrt the public than they are now and that they'd cave pretty early. Now I don't know. From my point of view, Obama is looking pretty bad with his "I'd be more than happy to negotiate after they give me what I want" stance, but I try not to overestimate the ability of the population to see through bullshit.

How about a wager that they honor an agreement to negotiate later?

Let me ask you this, of the 80 or so GOP Pee Tardy house members who wrote the letter to Boehner demanding that he go along with this stunt. How many of them would ever vote for a budget, fiscal and tax reform bill that could honestly pass both houses and be signed by this President?

That's where I'm at, I was already wrong once, thinking reps would push it to the brink to distance themselves even further from obamacare, then sit back and watch the train wreck happen.

Now that Obama has doubled down in stupid with saying there will be no negotiations on the debt limit I'm not sure what boehner will do now.

How is that the Democrats getting what they need?

Why is the government running and our nation paying its debts and financial obligations needs only for the Democrats?

Pretend as if the POTUS did not have not a black daddy when answering these questions.
I'll ignore your ignorant piece of shit race baiting comment at the end and answer the rest of your post.

They won't negotiate IN GOOD FAITH on anything SIGNIFICANT. Please read all the words I posted.

We aren't talking about a short term temporary small increase. The Dems have already stated they would reject that.

If they get a significant debt limit increase the Dems will have no motivation to change from the same short sighted drunken sailor spending they have practiced for the last 5 years.(and yes the GOP did the same before that, although not quite on this scale)

I'm no much for bets on here but if you want to just bet for bragging rights that's fine with me.

You did not answer my questions.

How is the government running a Democrat "need" and a GOP "concession"?

How is the USA honoring its financial obligations a Democrat "need" and a GOP "concession"?

I have trouble understanding why anybody would think that.

Jesus you have a warped perception of shit. Well, it's either warped or childishly simplistic.

The question isn't just about "running the govt." It's about the manner of running the govt. The current House wants significant shrinkage in government outlays (one piece being Obamacare that they have focused on). The Dems want status quo massive deficit spending. BOTH want the government to run, they just have different visions of how to do it. If the House gives the Dems what they want then the Dems get to run govt exactly how THEY want and the House gets NOTHING.

The funny part is... the House is the part of our government that is SUPPOSED to be in control of this aspect of things (funding). So if they defer to the Dems bullying and scare tactics they have effectively made one entire section of our govt irrelevant.

We elected the House to decide what should and shouldn't be funded. Obama and Reid are crying like babies and BLOCKING them from doing what the PEOPLE elected them to do.

You may not like our system of govt, but that's how it was built to work.

We have a bicameral legislature and a Presidential veto that can only be overidden with a 2/3 majority.

If this GOP stunt was the way to pass laws then why is it not in the constitution as some kind of special legislative process for those eras when some really stupid politicians can't figure out the bicameral legislature presidential veto thing?

Wow. You do know that it is IN THE CONSTITUTION that all funding originates in the House right?

What you want is a House that simply provides blank checks to the rest of govt. Well sorry, that isn't how it works.

The fact that you see this as a "stunt" is as telling about your ignorance as your accusation that I judge Obama based on the color of skin.

Yeah, but that part never really worked out the way the Founders kinda planned. Frankly, the House doesn't really have power of the purse in that they can't unilaterally do anything, just as the Senate can't. It's much more of a formality than any kind of real power.

The Founders did build in this system of checks-and-balances, of course, so if the current stalemate is an outgrowth of that, then one could said that that part of their system is working.
