Chiefs have the #1 scoring defense in football after 5 weeks

We are only allowing 11.6 points per game...even more impressive is that the second place team is NE at 14 ppg. That's a sizable lead.

Some other rankings after 5 weeks...

1st in sacks
1st in passes defensed
1st in defensive touchdowns
1st in recovered fumbles
3rd in interceptions
7th in yards allowed per game
4th in pass yards allowed per game
21st in rush yards allowed per game (Philly game skewed this one)

Translation: the defense is killin it

What happens when you take Philly out of the equation?

I'm anxious to see how well this defense fares as the season matures and they get tested and some weaknesses are exposed. I love how they played against Dallas...our only real test thus far.

I honestly am beginning to think we have the personnel it takes to slow down Denvers offense just enough to squeak out a win in the regular season and to really put it on them in the playoffs if we get to face them there.

Flowers vs. Welker
Cooper vs. D. Thomas
Berry vs. J. Thomas

Gonna be fun to watch.

Offense has got to be above average first.

I really think you gotta switch Smith and Cooper.

I don't like putting a 7th round rookie on a Top 8 WR.

Charles hasn't broken loose yet and Bowe hasn't gotten involved. Potential is there for the offense to get where they need to be.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Are you taking other team's defensive and ST scoring out. If not, that is cherry picking.

So when things average out we're looking at 9-7. Great

No. That ranking accounts for that.

I'm sorry to reveal this information to you. I know the knowledge that Alex Smith captains the #18 offense is disturbing. But the truth is the truth.

The thing is, and it is an effective strategy, they will risk McGrath getting free or Avery getting free over Bowe getting free.

I'm still scratching my head over the 5 straight passes to Chad Hall to start the TN game.

Yeah, there's not a lot of upside there unless you're trying to sell posters to teenage girls...
