For those claiming it is the GOP to blame for a possible default...

Explain to me why the DEMOCRATS under Reid refused to pass the Full Faith and Credit Act which was passed by the House. And why Obama threatened to veto it if it got to him?

You all seem to whine and cry that we should ALWAYS pay our debts. Well that law makes certain that in a situation like this... we always do.

You can read it here
http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-1...113hr807rh.pdf

Pretty simple. If we breach our credit limit we (BY LAW) must pay debts first thereby ensuring we NEVER default.

Let's hear your spin on this one.

So again.

You think that paying ALL of our bond debt ever year will result in lower bond ratings.

Please explain to us how this works?

My god this is fun. You really are out of your depth on this.

That's prioritizing.

And having to prioritize what you owe lowers your credit rating. Which can and will send economic shockwaves across the global economy.
So in this statement you are saying that this bill will force us to pay certain things but other things will go unpaid right? And that is what will result in a downgrade, right?

Except that the credit ratings are on OUR DEBT dumbass. And the thing this bill guarantees we always pay is our DEBT. So please explain to us why a credit agency gives two shits if some kids Headstart money dries up? As long as the BOND INTEREST is always paid they could care less

#2 it would not CAUSE a lack of payment on anything. Spending more than we earn would be the cause.

#3 The President claims that this bill which simply guarantees we never default... would somehow CAUSE the Congress to never agree to pay anything else. Basically this is a flat out admission that he is using the THREAT of default to scare the public and bully the House to get what he wants. He is also admitting that he has no intention (or ability) to negotiate and reach a compromise on budgetary matters.

All this boils down to is this. The rhetoric about never playing politics with default was disingenuous. If they were serious about default never being used to negotiate than why oppose a bill that takes default permanently off the table? It's obvious what's going on, I just like pointing out how your shock and indignation towards the GOP looks pretty silly in light of all the facts.
Congress authorized the spending, now pay the ****ing bill. Putting anything in the way of doing that is playing politics. So, as you would say, sell that shit elsewhere.

Dude you are REALLY bad at reading my mood. I am calm, have my feet on the desk (Obama style!) and am simply amused as hell regarding this "debate."

You really should man up and admit your statement about prioritizing and our bond ratings was complete hogwash.

I wish KC Native was here. I'd love to hear him either a)explain it to you or B)scramble desperately to come up with a convoluted way to back you up when he knows better or he should given his field.

It is soooo simple. In order to get Congress to pay the bills from the spending Congress authorized, all Obama has to do is give them the ability to eliminate any laws they don't like.

I have explained this to you before. If you run in a perpetual state of DEBT/DEFICIT then you will ALWAYS be able to claim "Well this is stuff you ALREADY authorized so you need to pay up!" To accept your premise means that Obama will ALWAYS get his way and there will be no possible input from the House. You understand this right?

Just like FD, you seem to be under the misconception that the House has to maintain the status quo every year. So what the **** do we even have them for? It shows a fundamental lack of understanding on your part of how the system works.

Quit with the "already authorized" bullshit. THEY HAVE NOT. That is why there is a battle you dolt. Spending gets REAUTHORIZED every year. We call this a budget. So yes every year the House gets to decide WHAT we spend money on. That is their job. This only becomes a major issue when you have a president who spends like a drunken sailor and refuses to give anything up when the time comes to beg for more money.

Obama, like all presidents before him, should always get his way on paying the bills that Congress authorized.

The House's chance for input was when then expenditures were authorized. On the particular issue of Obamacare, they have also offered input 40-some times in attempts to repeal it.

And if there is a bill due, it is because they authorized the spending.

You still are too thickheaded to get it. This is WHEN the House gets its chance for input. If not now, please explain when? If they give in now tell me EXACTLY when they get the chance to defund ANYTHING? Next year when there is another "crisis" and you claim that they can't do it THEN because these are past due bills, yet again! Rinse, repeat.

You are ridiculous. You have some mythical idea about how the process works. I'm not sure how much more I can explain this to you when you are so clueless about what is going on.
