A good portion of those people wanted something BROADER than Obamacare, so I don't think that they truly count as being "against" it.

Plus, there's the little matter of Obama being re-elected over a guy who repeatedly said he would repeal Obamacare on Day 1.

He doesn't need to let them "have" anything. He never said he was going to bring anything to the negotiating table. Negotiation is a term that Boehner loves to throw around. This whole thing was pretty simple, raise the debt ceiling or we default on loans and shutdown. It became complicated when you start throwing the hatred for Obamacare into the fray. Obama doesn't owe the GOP anything.

A good portion of the people who disapprove of the GOP disapprove because they think too many Republicans are willing to pass a CR and a debt limit increase without getting anything in return from democrats.

Irrelevant. The point is they didn't want it and he ignored that.

I've been over this several times already. The guy he beat had his own version of Obamacare in the state that he had governed. The Conservative base didn't support him because they didn't trust him to actually repeal it (or even if he did they were scared he would just try to push another version of it).

HOWEVER, in the House of Representatives the republicans kept control BECAUSE most ran against repealing it. So your narrative does not fit with reality.

If that's what you call patriots who recognize a serious fiscal crisis on our horizon, then yes.

It became complicated when that lie started being spread. We are not going to default even with out a debt ceiling increase.

Yeah, re-electing the "Obama" in Obamacare is just irrelevant.

Oh no, not what I think. You gave this example, follow through with it. Why specifically did the budget not have the votes to pass?

When electing anti-Obamacare representatives to the House with the mission of getting rid of it, yes, it is irrelevant.

Yeah, they recognized the serious fiscal crisis on the horizon that would come with default and they embraced the opportunity to do as much damage as possible.

My guess is that Obamacare funding was in it. Boner shouldn't have made the deal if he thought that was going to be a problem.

I would add that it probably had the votes to pass just like a clean CR would. But that would mean bypassing the loons on the far right.
