I was more agreeing to the point that neither party has covered itself in glory here...

I would disagree with this a little. Obama conceded alot of things to Boehner in their grand bargain deal including SS reform and Medicare cuts yet Boehner walked away because of the tax cuts on the rich. And just 3 weeks ago they had a deal with Boehner almost matching Paul Ryan's budget number and he decided to close the government instead. There is only so much you can do when one side gives and the other doesn't want to reciprocate.

Just sort of wonder when did this happen?

Since no details are ever released by anyone who would know and what we are all told is the spin each side wants us to take, do you actually believe this bullshit? Seriously?

In other words, you're wrong everywhere. Your fictional account doesn't explain why democrats were so happy to shut down the government that they instructed the bureaucracy to make it as painful as possible.

I am sure you are aware of the Grand Bargain that fell apart in 2011.

The last deal was between Boehner and Reid after their August recess. $988 billion dollar deal that they negotiated as long as the Republicans kept the government open.

Everyone knows it was a sweet deal. 3-1 or 4-1 tax cuts to revenue increases with cuts to SS and Medicare. I doubt he will get that good of a deal again.

And yes Boehner walked away at the last second to the deal him and Reid made with the White House's approval. Boehner couldn't deliver a pizza mostly because he is a drunk.

Also let's not forget that the Republicans were asked 18 separtate times to conference over the budget this year and they refused every time until with 5 minutes left to go before the government shutdown.

Nice touch. Boehner, Cruz, and other tea baggers would end up looking like Joe McCarthy. Heh. I like it!

He just repeats what he was told and assumes its all true. We have no facts to say who offered what and who turned what down. That goes both ways. Boehner is as phony as Obama and Reid

Whatever. Are you saying that Obama didn't agree to SS and Medicare cuts in the grand bargain? That deal fell apart because Obama went back and asked for more revenue but he was willing to make reforms on both of those programs.

What is interesting about that deal was Obama asked IIRC $800 billion in revenue yet the bipartisan Gang of Six in the Senate had a plan in place for $2 trillion in new revenue over 10 years.

Boehner walked away when the democrats poisoned the deal with a last minute tax increase. Turns out, the democrats didn't really want a deal.

Have you forgotten this line?

Was that before or after "most transparent administration ever"?
And "we won't hire lobbyists".
