Obama Buys Debt Ceiling Debacle - Rejects GOP Offer

Obama Rejects G.O.P. Offer of Short-Term Debt Limit Plan

By JACKIE CALMES and ASHLEY PARKER

At a meeting at the White House, President Obama turned down the proposal from Republicans to extend the nation’s borrowing authority for six weeks because it would not also reopen the government.

For my part, I still think they should pass a clean short term debt ceiling increase, but hold the line on the government closure until Obama gives up the individual mandate for a year.

What iteration of your stance is this now? First it was Obamacare was going to get repealed\not funded, then it was going to be delayed for a year, then the House was going to pass this bill or that bill, Ron Paul was going to be POTUS twice because of moneybombs..

I can't keep up with all of your stances\predictions.

Yeah, Priest Holmes "lost a step" after surgery too...before going on to have 2-3 more monster seasons, back in the day; his football takes aren't quite as bad, but they suck too. The only cred he has is with other lunatic fringe nutjob Lew Rockwell idiot-types--and those not really paying attention.

If you really want to make yourself dizzy tracking Taco's positions, consider that he was probably the biggest Obama supporter you could imagine. Some people say I'm a paid shill--I look like a teabagger compared to Taco's past Obama-crush.

I see Kotter and Cosmos have nothing. Just more logical fallacies by statists who can't articulate an argument.

Please continue to tell us how its always the government's fault, always.

You don't articulate an argument, you are just a broken record.

Like, I said.... "The only cred he has is with other lunatic fringe nutjob Lew Rockwell idiot-types--and those not really paying attention." You are merely exhibit "A." It's always and forever the government's fault--for anything (and everything) with you.

I understand restraining government and reducing spending--one can make reasonable arguments for that; arguing for anarchy, and irresponsible laissez-faire policies in an incredibly complicated and inter-connected modern world is not only ill-advised, but asinine. Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

When BEP is on your side TJ, nothing else needs to be said....

I hate to break it to you, but Priest Holmes last 3 seasons were not monster seasons. He didn't play more than half the games in any one of them.

That's not even true. I was intrigued by the guy, for sure, but mostly I used him as troll bait for Patteeu in that time frame.

For that matter, though, Obama spoke to a lot of the issues that I cared about early on. He was a big proponent against raising the debt ceiling - one of the most outspoken about the issue of the time. He was very much anti war, and spoke very eloquently about the need to get out of these areas that we had no business being in. He talked about closing guantanamo, and the limits of executive power.

But it didn't take long for him to show that this was all words and not actual substance. He was a grand stander in the Senate, the way Elizabeth Warren is now: a lot of talk with nothing of substance to back that talk up.

I don't begrudge anyone for falling for his allure. He is a very charismatic guy who speaks to the stuff that Americans like to hear. He just is an empty suit when it comes to delivering on those things. Luckily, I saw that very early on, and migrated to a candidate who not only spoke the right words, but had a record of action backing those words up.

I might have liked the guy for a month or two, but it was short lived once it became clear that he was going to run as a hawk against Hillary, not a dove.

Your prediction was after his first surgery, NOT the one later in his career that led to his demise. He had at least two Pro-Bowl seasons after your bone-headed prediction.
