I think you underestimate the will of the Republicans in the House. The Senate surrender is DOA in the House this morning.

Posturing. Whatever passes the senate will pass the house.

Boehner needs to put up a house alternative and let it fail first, though.

“Things are still fluid,” explains a Senate Republican aide. “The initial buzz wasn’t great. It was seen as a really small step forward, like a free Coke and pack of crackers. Nice, but nothing to write home about.”

“The larger problem, particularly as we go forward for House members, is a free Coke and crackers aren’t going to cut it with Cruz, Heritage, FreedomWorks, and the Senate Conservatives Fund,” the aide adds. “They have been selling the idea they know the winning Powerball numbers and we are about to hit the jackpot. Expectations of what is achievable and what we can get out of this remain way out of whack . . . Keep in mind the activists are still calling offices pushing for the full defund of Obamacare. The message has not been relayed to the grassroots that the defund option isn’t going to happen no matter how long we hold our breath or how much we wish it would happen.”

That's certainly what Obama is gambling on. I don't think he quite understands that the conservatives don't care about the 17th knowing that the option to default is exactly that: an option. The president has to choose to default. It doesn't just happen automatically.

This is the bottom line of all this default talk. The President and his party of terrorists have options. He gets to decide.

The thing is, they are definitely wearing a suicide vest. Obamacare is ticking, and it's not working. They could end this all by accepting a year delay and giving the American people the same that they're choosing for themselves, big business, and the unions. It's not clear to me that they understand that they've strapped themselves with explosives that will go off every pay day when people start to get their new premiums.

I don't care if republicans help Obama snap up his vest but they need to come together and agree when the time is to get away from it before it goes off.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize that is set to happen anyway. I don't think people understand fully right now what is about to happen in 2014. I don't think that everybody realizes yet that nearly every working person is about to see anywhere from $200 to $600 a month evaporate from their bottom line.

This isn't some abstract thing. This is nearly every voting person being affected every paycheck by this thing and having to figure out how to make the ends meet. The Republicans are about to get an influx of new voters. They win nothing by going soft now.

Yea, because people haven't noticed the parabolic increase in healthcare premiums for the last 3 decades or anything

You are almost as bad as CoMo when it comes to being right about things.

Most people really haven't. They know it's expensive, but they don't feel it every paycheck the way they are about to.

I've pretty well nailed everything I've bothered to stick my neck out on during this recent drama. I'm comfortable with my record, especially when challenged by a lesser respected contributor on this forum like yourself. Nobody cares what you say because you don't offer analysis, just screeching, shrill criticism of everyone and everything.

@ the fact you think you're a respected contributor.

@ the fact that you think you actually contribute anything. You offer no analysis. When you get backed into a corner on a ridiculous stance that you hold you just pretend like the thread never existed.

No you are pretty much wrong about everything in regards to politics. Stick to talking about the Donkeys.

And just so people know the House Republican plan just broke apart in mid air. It only took 2 hours.

Republcans could have made Obamacare a bipartisan deal, fought tooth and nail for mandates and tort reform, claimed victory and owned half of it. Hell everything in Obamacare started as a Heritage Foundation idea. Eventually people would absorb access to healthcare as an expected govt service (like they do in every other 1st world country) and move on. Nobody votes democrat because they get a free K-12 education.

Instead they've positioned themselves, as loudly as obnoxiously as possible, in direct opposition to the working poor, self-employed entrepreneurs, small businesses, waiters, etc. Genius.
