NBC/WSJ poll: People blame the GOP more than they did during the 1995 shutdown

Another day, another disastrous poll for the House suicide caucus. Dems also up on the generic ballot by 8 points, 47-39.

NBC/WSJ poll: Shutdown debate damages GOP

Quote:
By a 22-point margin (53 percent to 31 percent), the public blames the Republican Party more for the shutdown than President Barack Obama – a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the poll during the last shutdown in 1995-96.

Just 24 percent of respondents have a favorable opinion about the GOP, and only 21 percent have a favorable view of the Tea Party, which are both at all-time lows in the history of the poll.

Yet what is perhaps even more worrisome for the GOP is the “boomerang” effect: As the party has used the shutdown and fiscal fight to campaign against the nation’s health-care law and for limited government, the poll shows those efforts have backfired.

For one thing, the health-care law has become more popular since the shutdown began. Thirty-eight percent see the Affordable Care Act (or “Obamacare”) as a good idea, versus 43 percent who see it as a bad idea – up from 31 percent good idea, 44 percent bad idea last month.

In addition, 50 percent say they oppose totally eliminating funding for the law, even if it that means a partial shutdown of the government. That’s up from 46 percent who said they opposed that move in a Sept. 2013 CNBC poll.

Both parties are wrong, but it's obvious that public perception is that one party is being blamed more than the other. That's in Gallup. And now with the right-leaning Wall Street Journal.

The people who are thick are the Republicans who completely refuse to admit they have an image problem. While the tea party and the Ron Paul disciples were giving standing ovations for outrightly defying Congress, the Republicans created an image of being impossible to work with.

The Republicans could have done the same thing with completely different results just by a little self awareness. But we put the party in the hands of guys who would rather prove a point than get things done.

Yep, they blamed the Republicans for the shutdown when Slick Willie was in office too. Funny how those same people line up to give Slick willie credit for the balanced budget. The whole point of the shutdown was the Republicans forcing him to balance the budget. **** what the polls say. Just do what's right. I don't care if Dems get the credit. Just make this country fiscally responsible.

Slick Willy won the Dems points because he was one of the most savvy politicians we've seen. Gingrich did his job, but was just out-politicianed.

In this case, Obama is doing a shitty job, but the Republicans are doing everything they can to be unpopular. Neither are doing their jobs. Frankly, Obama isn't even hurting the Republicans, they're doing it to themselves.

Its not a slanted poll. These questions are very simple. The people, by a very large margin, are blaming the GOP for the shutdown, are not happy about the shutdown, and would rather have Democrats in charge.
It's a very slanted poll designed by the establishment left and right to alienate the tea party. Grow a spine and fight for something worth fighting for once in your life.

The way this poll is being reported on is hilarious when you dig into the actual numbers.

Hahahahaha! The tea party rates more favorable than Harry Reid.

The reporting on this poll is a goddamn joke.
