NBC/WSJ poll: People blame the GOP more than they did during the 1995 shutdown

Another day, another disastrous poll for the House suicide caucus. Dems also up on the generic ballot by 8 points, 47-39.

NBC/WSJ poll: Shutdown debate damages GOP

Quote:
By a 22-point margin (53 percent to 31 percent), the public blames the Republican Party more for the shutdown than President Barack Obama – a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the poll during the last shutdown in 1995-96.

Just 24 percent of respondents have a favorable opinion about the GOP, and only 21 percent have a favorable view of the Tea Party, which are both at all-time lows in the history of the poll.

Yet what is perhaps even more worrisome for the GOP is the “boomerang” effect: As the party has used the shutdown and fiscal fight to campaign against the nation’s health-care law and for limited government, the poll shows those efforts have backfired.

For one thing, the health-care law has become more popular since the shutdown began. Thirty-eight percent see the Affordable Care Act (or “Obamacare”) as a good idea, versus 43 percent who see it as a bad idea – up from 31 percent good idea, 44 percent bad idea last month.

In addition, 50 percent say they oppose totally eliminating funding for the law, even if it that means a partial shutdown of the government. That’s up from 46 percent who said they opposed that move in a Sept. 2013 CNBC poll.

No shit. You just put off paying Social Security recipients and pay the Chinese to avoid default. What could be easier?

Just like all those polls prior to the 2012 election were slanted until they were proven right.

Good luck with that again.

Yea, all you have to do is pass a bill that says it is illegal for you to default and default risk goes away and your credit rating will go up too.

This. The Wall Street Journal is more subtle than Fox News, but they're clearly right-leaning.

The Unskewers Return! Cruz, Others Dispute GOP's Lousy Poll Number

Quote:
A poll released Thursday brought historically bad numbers for Republicans, but it also marked the return of a conservative faction largely unseen since the 2012 campaign.

The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found an all-time low approval rating for the GOP, but some on the right have sought to "unskew" the numbers.

I have to agree. Both parties are doing their best to blame the other party and keep people divided. But both parties need ****ing flushed. We should be angry and ashamed at the whole lousy lot of them. Fire them all! It's the only way to be 100% sure that we fired the real perpetrator...

Its not a slanted poll. These questions are very simple. The people, by a very large margin, are blaming the GOP for the shutdown, are not happy about the shutdown, and would rather have Democrats in charge.
Ok, then let the elections show it.

People are blaming the Democrats, as the article says, but they're just blaming the Republicans more.

The Mid-terms should be interesting. Traditionally, Republicans do well in Mid-terms (possibly due to low voter turnout), but this ordeal isn't going to go very well for them.

Democrats would be smart to postpone the individual mandate. The implementation of their totally ****ed up health care law is going to override any blip republicans will feel for fighting it.
