When you think of Tea Party members you think of...

Quick poll to see what you guys think of people who identify themselves as members or supporters of the Tea Party.

I forgot to make this poll public, but consider it public because when I get a chance I'll likely change the setting in the db to do so.

OK poll is now officially public.

I have to vote way below average IQ. At least the people who believe in the Tea Party. The people who put it together and fund it are very intelligent and know how to manipulate the masses, especially to the religious. The Koch brothers are evil pieces of shit and they wish to rule, by funding the Tea Party, they have proven that they can.

If you can follow a group that says things like this, then ya. Way below average IQ.

“People now don’t die from prostate cancer, breast cancer and some of the other things.” – Chris Collins, New York GOP State Rep.

“You would be giving off more CO2 if you are riding a bike than driving in a car.” – Ed Orcutt, Washington GOP State Rep., stating that bicycles pollute the environment more than cars do.

“I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you… rape victims should make the best of a bad situation.” – Rick Santorum

“If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways of shutting that whole thing down.” -Todd Akin -

“[America has to import so many workers because] for the last 35 years we have aborted more than a million people who would have been in our workforce.” – Mike Huckabee

”The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.” – Pat Robertson

Glen Urquhart: "The exact phrase 'separation of Church and State' came out of Adolph HItler's mouth, that's where it comes from. So the next time your liberal friends talk about the separation of Church and State, ASK THEM WHY THEY'RE NAZIS."

As I recall this is where Reagan felt that he we had to respond to a specific geopolitical event (the threat of the Soviet Union) and stray from his ideals. It was a choice between covert warfare, conventional warfare, nuclear confrontation and economic warfare. We went with economic and covert, with a dose of conventional by proxy, maintaining the threat of nuclear. We are still paying for the choices that were made but it was a hairy time and there weren't a lot of good alternatives.

I'm just pointing out that people treat Reagan like he was this absolute astere guy. His massive spending during the cold war wasn't overly popular. A lot of people didn't agree with it. So essentially, he spent a bunch of money when he didn't have to, all in support of a foreign policy. Incidentally, foreign defense spending is often one of the biggest arguments used to label "neocons." Reagan was the original neocon.

I'm sorry but, your premiss is flawed. The republicans have tried to negotiate. During the shut down they kept asking to negotiate. It was Obama and the democrats who said there would be NO negotiations until they got what THEY wanted. While less than what they really want, if you think Cruz, Lee, Paul and Rubio would not have voted for a one year delay on the individual mandate you are crazy.

I stand by my argument: Reagan was Tea Party before it existed.

The Cold War had been going on long before he ever took office. He did what he needed to end it short of lobbing nukes at the Soviets once he took office and was handed the responsibility of dealing with an on going extreme situation/threat. I would hardly classify the man as a neocon based on those circumstances.

LOL, WUT?

The Tea Party would have rejected Reagan. Reagan was a former union leader who divorced his first wife. That's enough right there for the Tea Party to reject him. They would have applauded him for reducing the tax rates, but they would have skewered him for raising other taxes.

The Tea Party loves extremists, and Reagan wasn't nearly extreme enough to satsify them.

It's easy to say that NOW. But if Ronald Reagan were to come on the scene NOW with his track record, the Tea Party would have rejected him just like they rejected Mitt Romney.

You completely fail to understand either the Tea Party or Ronald Reagan.

Reagan ran as a Conservative with a Conservative track record. Mitt ran as a quasi Conservative with a Romney care background.

Reagan would have been embraced by the Tea Party. Period.
