When you think of Tea Party members you think of...

Quick poll to see what you guys think of people who identify themselves as members or supporters of the Tea Party.

I forgot to make this poll public, but consider it public because when I get a chance I'll likely change the setting in the db to do so.

OK poll is now officially public.

I'm not sure how you negotiate when everyone on the bus is singing the wheels on the bus go round and round as it goes over the cliff.

Not getting anything done isn't worthless when you are getting your message out.

That's an inaccurate summary of his position. He's opposed to the government that he uses too.

And it's not hypocrisy either. He lives within the system as it exists now, while he works to change it. People who want to raise taxes aren't hypocrites for paying at their current statutory rate and taking all applicable deductions.

Post fail.

Looking at the results, I'm certain that we've heard the last of the bullshit concerning the supposed conservative bias of this board.

In politics, if you shoot for all or nothing, you're going to get nothing every most of the time. The Republicans should have picked their biggest battles and been relentless on it. They could have negotiated in a few small wins and also, when the blame rolls around when something like Obamacare collapses, the Republicans look back as the ones who tried hard to fight it but didn't win.

Instead, they chose EVERY battle. So instead of looking like a party fighting on principle, they looked like a party fighting a grudge match against the President. At a time when the President looked the most vulnerable, the GOP managed to make the public hate them even more. So... congrats... on that?

What message got out? They seriously damaged their brand, credibility, and chances at winning future elections. They negotiated a deal that was shitty for the right.

They stopped being a party of anti-government spending, and became a party of "no." If you think any positive message for the GOP came across, then you are ignoring every bit of data that says that the Republicans got their asses handed to them.

Tea Partiers Are Fairly Mainstream in Their Demographics
Skew right politically, but have typical profile by age, education, and employment

Poll FAIL. The last choice up there overlaps with the other two choices.

Also, in what way is this a "quick" poll?

Got to find the tweet again, but Yale prof. released a study today that people who identify themselves as Tea Party are smarter at science than those who say they are not Tea Party. A result he was not expecting.
