McDonald's helps workers get food stamps.

McDonald's helps workers get food stamps

Quote:
Nancy Salgado, who has worked at a Chicago McDonald's for 10 years and makes $8.25 an hour, asked the McResource representative a number of questions related to getting assistance to pay for her heating bill, her groceries and her sister's medical expenses. Salgado told the representative that she was recording the call for her sister.

The helpline operator never asked Salgado how much she made per hour, and how many hours per week she worked beyond the fact that she was a full-time employee. But she said that Salgado "definitely should be able to qualify for both food stamps and heating assistance."

The representative then pointed her toward a number of resources in Chicago, such as food pantries and a program that would help cover some of her heating bill. She said she would email her specific phone numbers and programs.

The operator also explained that the McResource line is available to help McDonald's workers who need help navigating the process of getting public assistance. The helpline's phone number is posted in fliers at many McDonald's locations.
Nice of McDonalds to help get its employees on the gov't teet.

Ask yourself why fast food workers can't seem to form a union.

Like, if a union provides insurance... That is calculated in the wage, compensation. The pay check would look something like this : Base pay+ 1 dollar an hour to retirement + 2 dollars an hour to insurance = Total pay.

A Union Bricklayer may make around 22 an hour, but they only bring home 17 an hour, because the other 5 go towards those costs.

Wow. Or let people run their own lives and stop trying to control how they spend their paychecks.

It's not even just fast food workers anyway. I know a lot of guys work off the books doing shit like construction, lawn care, etc. They might make $15 an hour, but that doesn't cover a wife, kids, two vehicles, insurance for everything and being able to eat decently.

At 40 hours/week and $15/hour that's a bit over 30K annually. Which is quite easy for one person to live off of especially if it's under the table. Having a wife that doesn't work, and having kids, is a choice that they made they they get to live with.

I my brother is in a union, gets unemployment all the time. He is responsible for five kids though. Works side stuff for cash. Always ****ing broke.

I am single now, live in a cheap apartment, no child support or anything.

Guess what, I have bought over $600 in X Box shit since NCAA 14 came out.

Went through a bad divorce and got off pretty lucky. I don't even know if I want another woman right now, and I don't want kids after what I have been through.

You are a riot.

Nothing represents freedom more than being able to use your first admendment right to freedom of assembly to gather and use your first admendment right to freedom of speech (to talk about working conditions) to group together and express a viewpoint as one.

We do it with politcal parties. We do it with homeowners associations. We do it with lobbiests. Ever segment of the population in some way has representation.

But if workers do it, that is somehow authoritarian?

You continue to prove you are a corporate fascist. If it at all takes away from corporate power or profits, you are against it.

Lol. Yes, that was what that was an example of.

You just showed you have no idea how a union has operated over the last 100 years.

You uninformed opinion just reached the funny levels.

I have been around the restaurant business enough to see the horseshit like "don't too good of an evaluation".

Oh, and you are lying about the convicted for fraud. How cute.

Sare Lemos was the author of that study. I don't even think you have ever heard her name.

But she was never convicted of fraud. You are going to have to find another way to discredit data you don't agree with so you don't have to change your mind or even think about it.
You are a ****ing tool, and you are too stupid to check your sources, before you believe every last word they post, and preach that word like it's final. Try using Google, and type in president of iza.org, and read the wiki page. He was convicted of tax fraud, no matter how badly you do not want to believe it. Your corrupt sources can spin "their" statistics anyway they want, to fit "their" agenda. You are just too naive to understand how statistics can be used to justify about anything, including fitting them to your agenda, hence that is where the term, lies, damn lies, and statistics come from. You are obviously to naive, and ignorant to understand this, but the only thing you've proven is, your sources, and anything they say cannot be trusted. I go to a Walgreens a lot here. There is this way sexy chick who is probably about 40. Great round ass and body. 'm sure she doesn't make much.

I don't know if she has kids That is a problem for me, I'll admit it again.

I went in after work one day and used a hundred to pay for some beer and shit. She just kept carrying on about how a hundred dollars is so much for her.

I thought she was going to jump over the counter and tear my pants off.

Was still seeing my ex wife, so never pursued it.

Went in today to get a Boost card, and was like damn you may have to reconsider this shit. She looked as fine as a college girl.

She is probably broke all the time with terrible issues, but she is a MILF type of the highest grade.

Learn to tell the difference between who authored a study and website that is hosting the study.

You can google her name, Sara Lemos. It brings up the study too. Hosted by all kinds of different websites.

Try it.
