Nuclear option by Reid

I know why he is doing this but I cannot see this being good for democrats. Its as if he and Obama will watch the majority crash and burn as long as Obama gets his way till midterms. Or maybe they have the numbers that show the Rs will have House and Sennate after midterms and they only have a year to do all the damage they can.

Something's never change. You are talking to a clown that is an example of what is wrong with this country. He is my enemy and nothing more. Our president said we could keep our policy and he would sign a bill that would cut the premiums by up to $2,500 for the average household and it would only cost $900 billion and not add a dime to the deficit. It was a lie and direckshun will spin and debate trying to defend this pant load. **** him and our government~

This ! Obama is fed up that all his radical nominations are filibustered and by Senate Dems having the majority and now having the ability to change the rules means there are NO RULES which means Obama avoids the filibuster and places more Marxists in whatever position he likes until he is out of office.

Our Constitution was purposely created for 'gridlock' in order to prevent tyrannical socialists from ruling. But if there is no 'filibuster' then there is no resistance and tyranny rules the day !!

Getting rid of the filibuster on judicial nominees is like rape.

"Let's forget the Senate for a minute," Limbaugh began. He told his listeners to imagine a group of 10 people with six men and four women. "The group has a rule that the men cannot rape the women," he said. "The group also has a rule that says any rule that will be changed must require six votes, of the 10, to change the rule."

The radio host continued, "Every now and then, some lunatic in the group proposes to change the rule to allow women to be raped. But they never were able to get six votes for it. There were always the four women voting against it and they always found two guys.Well, the guy that kept proposing that women be raped finally got tired of it, and he was in the majority and he was one that [said], 'You know what? We're going to change the rule. Now all we need is five." And well, 'you can't do that.' 'Yes we are. We're the majority. We're changing the rule.' And then they vote. Can the women be raped? Well, all it would take then is half of the room. You can change the rule to say three. You can change the rule to say three people want it, it's going to happen."

From what I read, there are three vacancies in the US Court of Appeals in DC. The Republicans have filibustered the nominees, not because they say the nominees are unqualified, but because they say it is unnecessary to fill the spots.

Also, there will come a day when the Republicans will be in power, and they will benefit from this just like the Democrats do now. Also also, everybody hates Congress because they don't get anything done, and this will allow them to get something done. The filibuster has its uses, but it's too often used these days; this only applies to nominees, so it limits the filibuster without eliminating it, which I'm in favor of.

Political-strategy-wise, this was also a good move. Aside from policy wonks and Hill watchers like us, people generally don't care about Parliamentary procedure, and they certainly won't care on election day almost a year from now. It was announced and enacted within a single day, and it's already off of the news sites' front pages in favor of JFK nostalgia, crime stories, and something about Duck Dynasty.

I'm no big fan of Harry Reid, but this was the right thing to do.

Direwkb is a smart guy. He plays people very well. His objective is to create an issue. He represents the intellectual left. Smart but no moral compass , respect his intellect but in the long run these are your next generation of Obamas

I personally don't understand why republicans are against it. Have there such a lack of confidence in themselves. In the future there will be a republican president and a republican controlled senate. Then there can pursue there policies. Maybe in future politics will be more radical which might not be a bad thing.

I'm confused, I thought this only applied to the president's cabinet nominess and federal judge appointments? If so........

Whats the big deal? The President should get to work with whoever they want to work with in the cabinet. He owns them, not the Senate. The opposing party should not dictate who is in the Presidents cabinet.

Elizabeth Warren is a perfect example. She was qualified to head the consumer protection agency. Republicans went bat shit because she would go after big business. Win the Presidency and then you get to appoint a big business friendly person.

Elections have consequenses. The voters know Presidents appoint federal judges. This doesn't even apply to Supreme Court judges. I ask again, whats the big deal?
