Obama

I have avoided posting here because it has become so partisan. Usually if I do post here it is to comment on a non-partisan issue like gerrymandering, the filibuster, the electoral college etc. I will break that rule now.

Many of you know from when I was posting more often here that I am a Democrat. It is with great difficulty that I call for President Obama to resign. The government has simply gotten out of control. He has lost his ability to govern. Nothing will or can be done while Obama is President except perhaps in the area of foreign policy. Good or bad he has become a lighting rod. There is an impossible standard of having to overcome a 60% limit to pass anything in the Senate. There is also the standard in the House of needing to have a majority of Republicans behind a measure before it will come to a vote. One could argue that past Speakers, including Democrats, have set the same standard. They all allowed exceptions, Boehner does not.

Should you be linking that to Boehner's site? Isn't that the source?
Per a google I just did it is.

Meh, okay. Then again, it really shouldn't a surprise to see the Democrats agree with a free hand out, right?

Please continue, and take note that I was taking issue with Whoman's apparent belief that Obama is blameless regarding the situation in DC.

What about the last one? Did Obama raise taxes in his first term?

The federal excise tax on cigarettes was doubled in Obama's first term. So, yes he did.

No, but you asked for taxes. Obama raised taxes in his first term. Also, Obamacare has lots of taxes in it as well. They just didn't kick in till the 2nd term.

So, Obamacare being passed in his first term means he raised more taxes in his first term than just the excise taxes on cigarettes.

Considering that Obamacare was passed in his first term and includes increased taxation on some in 2013, yes, yes he did. It is curious why you are qualifying "income taxes" since the GOP proposals didn't.

I agree that taxes were raised on cigarettes, but I disagree with any notion that Obama raised taxes in any significant measure during his first term. Even with Obamacare, there wasn't much of a tax raise. There's a NIIT tax raise, but I don't consider it significant.

I remember when all the talk was about how Obama, a socialist, was going to fundamentally transform America by making it a European-like country. It's never happened.

I think it's significant that income taxes weren't raised for anyone. Aside from the cigarette tax increase, I think the last proposal from the GOP was substantially accepted.

There was also a first time home-buyers credit in recent years, though I would have agreed with the GOP's qualifying "5% down-payment" qualification.

I haven't looked up the others.

So, what has the GOP incorporated into their agenda that began with Obama?

Sure, because thankfully, the GOP took control of the House in 2010.
