Are you proud of your country

and if so why?

No political agenda here (I swear).

FTR, I am by no means saying I am not.

OK, in the past I've bemoaned the 19th amendment. Maybe, instead of scrapping it altogether, we can just modify it instead. Women should only be allowed to vote when they have the steadying and rationalizing influence of a husband!

I think I'm incapable of being proud of something like a country. I don't understand how one would go about it.

I think I can be pleased or displeased with specific aspects of it. On balance, I'm displeased.

Concur. Your support of the broncos on a Chiefs ' site confirms your lack of understanding and capability.

Have you experienced any of the Broncos sites?

"Achieved more" in what way? I'd probably say that isn't true.

We put a man on the moon, but what about the civilizations that invented the math used to get there? The ones that confirmed the laws of physics? The ones that began the understanding of astronomy? Developed written language?

We haven't even been around for 250 years, so it's nothing to be ashamed of.

We're not a democracy. We're a representative republic. So don't know how we created it.

I think the question pertains to today....and rugged invidualism is dying and the others are out of date.

What should we make of this post if not that you'll clutch at any straw to defend the Obama's?

Yes, you're right that that's not exactly what she said. Does it really make any meaningful difference that she was only talking about her adult life (as opposed to the naive thoughts she may have had as a child) or that she was only talking about being "really" proud for the first time instead of run-of-the-mill, kinda proud? I can appreciate a technical defense as much as anyone, but not when the technicalities are trivial.

Am I proud of 21st Century America? Hell NO! I'm ashamed particularly with the segment keeps trying to turn us into socialist Eurotrash.

We're rapidly moving away from what made this country great.

Just defending accuracy.
You are quite the stickler for semantics and verbatim accuracy when it suits you.

Growing up over seas in the 80's had a huge impact on my love for The United States of America. Ironically, after moving home, a small part of the luster wore off. I'll always be a patriot, and I'll always love this country for what I believe it stands for, or what it should stand for. Freedom, opportunity, personal success, award for achievement, and a never say die attitude. That's the America I grew up loving and I'm still convinced exists. The state of things these days however gives me reason to worry. Our national attitude seems to be at a crossroads right now. We seem to be made to feel like we should apologize for our success, and that we only succeed by keeping others down. I don't believe that, but it seems this is where we are nowadays. We are increasingly a society of victims, nobody is responsible for their own fate, and they are victims because America makes them that way. It makes no sense to me. I've been up and down in my life, and I owe any success I have to the opportunities I had and took advantage of here in America. Nowhere else in the world can you do this, and many of them hate us for it.

After New York was hit with that terrible Hurricane Sandy...

An interviewed lady was crying over the ex-military people that came to their aid. She said "They risk their lives in foreign countries to protect us and then they come home and volunteer their time to to help us."

How can you not love a country that produces people like that?

How can not be ashamed of its leadership that is so corrupt and selfish?

Of course not. My judgment, understanding and capability provide me the freedom to choose to always avoid bronco sites. Since you are here, you sure you are a bronco supporter? Your choice to be here vice with your own kind provides hope that maybe you are capable of understanding other things like pride in your country.
