Are you proud of your country

and if so why?

No political agenda here (I swear).

FTR, I am by no means saying I am not.

The lack of common sense in lieu of "book knowledge" as well as PC and career politicians concerned only for keeping their jobs instead of actually doing their jobs seems, to me, to be at the heart of our nations failings IMO. I am, sadly, not as proud of our nation as I used to, or would like to, be.

Isn't that the fault of the population for the most part?

I'm begging everyone to vote against every incumbent in every election for the rest of their lives. Our elected positions should be rotating positions among citizens who then return to their real jobs afterwards.

Text is tricky Bowser. I need the smiley but sometimes those come across as passive aggressive...like one is laughing at you instead of being funny. Guess I am in a more serious mode here. I didn't post like that when I was in the Lounge when I first was here and went back and forth.

No what's disrespectful is you acting authoritarian.

I think you need to read better too. My country is based on the Constitution, limited govt and liberty. When I see that being eviscerated, plus all the debt you'd see my point was I don't think we're America so far in the 21st century.

You of all people should get that without getting your jock strap in a bunch.

Absolutely. I would gladly die for this country if it came to that.

With that being said America has done some really shitty things and has some really stupid people in it but we aren't alone in that regard. But we are still the greatest nation in the world. **** the haters.

Broadly put, income inequality is concerning because it's not just that the super-rich are getting richer, it's that as their income goes up, the middle and bottom's income - which is most of us - goes down. That means the middle class is shrinking, and the poor are getting poorer. Just from an economic angle, recovery relies on spending; the middle class does the lion's share of spending in this society, but the middle class's income is shrinking. They don't spend as much, which is one big reason why we have a lackluster recovery.

On top of that, all of those middle or lower class people now can't afford as many things, such as higher education, health care, home ownership, heat and air conditioning, good food, clothing, and entertainment. These poor and formerly-middle-class rely more and more (as so many here are happy to point out) on government assistance. Everyone screams at the government because the working class is getting treated like shit, which they are, so confidence in the government plummets; and rightly so, because among the things the increasingly super-rich can purchase is governmental influence.

Psychologically, everyone is overworked but still not doing as well as they had hoped. Many become desperate or just stop caring, so crime rises while innovation, self-motivation, and upward mobility are all hamstrung. People trust each other less. Rates of depression climb. People snap. Does this sound familiar yet?

Now, don't get me wrong, income inequality isn't the only cause of many of these things, but it is a major one, and I guarantee that as the income inequality gap closes, these societal wounds will at least abate, if not heal.

But wait, there's more. Historically, periods of income inequality, as I've mentioned, end in either revolution or depression. The last time we had one, it ended in the Great Depression. France went from the Ancien Régime to the guillotine over the course of a single summer. Russia went to war - which we are at, by the way - and then had a brutal, bodies-dumped-in-pits-style revolution, resulting in 80 years plus of Communist rule. This is not fearmongering on my part, either; this is how income inequality ends if it is not reined in.

Other than all that, no, it's not concerning at all.

Don't hide from your neoconservative views. Single women hate Dick CHeney and you're essentially the Dick Cheney of this board. So while you made a funny (ha ha!) about single women being locked out of voting, it actually would behoove you if they were since single women absolutely despise your worldview.
