Are you proud of your country

and if so why?

No political agenda here (I swear).

FTR, I am by no means saying I am not.

it's the greatest nation if you are rich....

for the common man, it's far from being the greatest nation. But I guess that's just a matter of opinion and I respect yours.

Where is financial equality for all mentioned in the Constitution ? It's only opportunity that is guaranteed. The outcome is clearly your responsibility last I checked but then again Marxist Barry wants to make sure he follows Karl's manifesto the same one you apparently believe in as well.

Proud?
I'm not sure how pride fits. I love America, and am happy that I am lucky enough to live here, but I don't know how pride fits in my feelings toward her.
I believe the vast (VAST) majority of American citizens want what is best for themselves and others. I believe there is an immense spectrum of beliefs on how to get there, and that's where our disagreements politically begin.
I believe we could do a much better job educating ourselves, as well as holding one a others' feet to the fire to make sure we all take part in the democratic process.

I alternate.

This country, and this land, has been responsible for so many monstrosities over the course of its existence. True monstrosities, born out of rapacious greed and a total indifference to the suffering of others. These sins stretch back from before our founding to the 21st century. American history, all the way up to now, is littered with examples of America ****ing shit up royally and disasterously. Often times it's happened on purpose, knowing exactly the damage we are causing those stuck in our crosshairs.

It's equally undeniable that, as a nation, we've atoned for some of these sins. We've become a world leader in a select few, fortunately. And our incredible military might has pushed the world as far away from global anarchy as can be expected in this age.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, Americans do not care enough about the plight of other Americans. This is still a country for white males by white males, and too frequently is that reflected in the results.

I'm proud of the fact that America strives to be a work in progress. Just not frequently enough, in my estimation. And, honestly, I just hate the process.

Welp......there are a LOT more worse places to live, that's for sure.

But after growing up a little, and realizing history books are written by winners (and therefore, slanted just a tad bit)......I think there are probably equal parts to be proud and ashamed of.

With the age of information (internet), it makes it harder and harder for our country to lie to its people (which is why I believe the national media is heavily influenced by our government....and why our government loves to watch the masses get riled up over BS left/right debates).

While, as a whole, I think this is a good country.....it could be great if it truly were run by the people, and for the people.

Until we, as the people, realize there is no left/right.....but only big corporations funding both sides, serving their own agendas (and the politicians who are slaves to them).....we will not be great, and may actually regress.

Just from an economic angle, recovery relies on spending; the middle class does the lion's share of spending in this society, but the middle class's income is shrinking. They don't spend as much, which is one big reason why we have a lackluster recovery.
First, thanks for the thoughtful answer. I can understand why stagnating or declining income in the middle or bottom could be concerning, I'm not as sure why I should be as concerned about what's going on with the super-rich though.

Everyone screams at the government because the working class is getting treated like shit, which they are, so confidence in the government plummets; and rightly so, because among the things the increasingly super-rich can purchase is governmental influence.
Purchasing influence bothers me, but I don't see income inequality as the cause. If anything, it's the other way around.

How is income inequality to blame for this? Income inequality doesn't cause income stagnation for the poor and middle class. Again, it's the other way around. I can see that there might be a psychological effect here though in the sense that people are envious and want to blame their condition on those who don't share it. And they have plenty of help from people who tell them how bad and unfair our current state of income inequality is or who suggest that if the rich weren't so greedy, income would be more equal.

Now, don't get me wrong, income inequality isn't the only cause of many of these things, but it is a major one, and I guarantee that as the income inequality gap closes, these societal wounds will at least abate, if not heal.

Russia went to war - which we are at, by the way - and then had a brutal, bodies-dumped-in-pits-style revolution, resulting in 80 years plus of Communist rule. This is not fearmongering on my part, either; this is how income inequality ends if it is not reined in.

Other than all that, no, it's not concerning at all.
OK, a revolution would be concerning. Do you think we're on the verge of one?

I'm pretty confident that as a voting block, single women despise your worldview even more than mine.

Re: Income inequality

Would we be better off as a country if we stripped the super wealthy of their citizenship and then exiled them in order to improve the income inequality picture?
