Are you proud of your country

and if so why?

No political agenda here (I swear).

FTR, I am by no means saying I am not.

The extra money that the super-rich earn does not just materialize out of nowhere; as their income goes drastically up, lots of other peoples' stagnates or drops. Lack of advancement or outright becoming poor causes people to lose hope, and then these other things happen. It's not a new thing.

No. I think we have a phenomenally strong system, and the vast majority of people have a phenomenally strong belief in it, and therefore we don't have much danger of anyone wanting to replace it. I think if we don't fix the income inequality, we're in for a severe depression, taking the majority of the western world's economy with us. China and (to a lesser extent) India would come out ahead. I'm not crazy about that idea.

I don't think anyone's seriously advocating that. I would have no problem with higher taxes on the filthy rich, and the rescinding of corporate incentives, to start.

Yeah, you told me to stop using the word brutal, and start saying harsh instead.

So you'll agree you do try to enforce trivial language usage, then. Good to hear.

No, I don't agree with that at all. I believe you're mistaken about "brutal" and the misuse of the word "torture" wasn't trivial.

I don't agree with your zero-sum assumption that for extra money to go into the pockets of the super-rich, the incomes of others have to decline. Lack of advancement and becoming poor are not the result of income inequality. They're a part of the cause.

Let's say that you have the choice between doing nothing or a bipartisan compromise to exile the super-rich. Is income inequality enough of a problem to take that action or are we better off with the status quo?

Exile would of course cause a whole spate of new problems which would probably be just as destructive, but it's really a faulty and/or dilemma to begin with.

nobody has said that. The whole thing is that the American way is all about paying people the absolute bare minimum that you possibly can. While people work hard to generate money, struggle to just pay rent + bills. Profits for these mega-corps has never been higher than it is now. Yet, they get corporate welfare and their workers go on welfare themselves. The greed that controls our politicians and lawmakers are a big drain on society.

Yeah, I know no one is saying that. But I'm still asking you if you'd be happier if all these fat cats went somewhere else so that our income inequality wouldn't be so bad? And if you don't, then maybe income inequality isn't really what's driving the problem you want to address.

Don't need to, we (me, Buc and others) have already answered your question. You tapped out on mine though, because you don't have anything specific in mind.

No, you didn't answer my question. Let me know if you decide to explain yourself. And when you do, I'll be glad to answer yours.

You're changing the subject.

You're telling me to call EIT "harsh" instead of "brutal" from here on out.

That's ****ing trivial.
