Al Gore predicts the North Pole will be ice-free in 5 years

Well actually, he said that 5 years ago today.

http://pjmedia.com/eddriscoll/2013/1...tdown-expires/

Jim Hoft notes it was on yesterday’s date in 2008 that “Al Gore predicted the North Polar Ice Cap would be completely ice free in five years. Gore made the prediction to a German audience in 2008. He told them that “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.”

[Follow the link to see a video clip of Al Gore on 12/12/2008 saying, "The entire north polar ice cap may be completely gone in five years"]

In any case, as Jim notes, Gore’s been forecasting this moment since 2007, and his post yesterday included a clip of Gore making an identical prophesy in 2009.

Kate of Canada’s Small Dead Animals blog apologizes to Cairo for having to bear the brunt of the Al Gore Effect yesterday:

Big Oil-funded Al Jazeera should have known this would happen to the Middle East when they hopped into the same tent with Gore last year.

And ad this to the latest example of yet another not-so-final countdown passing without incident.

And the same prediction from 2009:

The earth has not been warming for the last 13 years. Despite dire predictions, there's been absolutely no evidence of a long-term increase in hurricanes, either in number or intensity. As a matter of fact, North America is currently on a record run for number of years without a major hurricane. Polar ice has actually been on the increase, not the decrease. This whole global warming crap has been nothing but a multi-billion dollar shake-down.

Does anyone else in their early 30s or so remember that when we were in elementary school, the teachers used to scare us with the idea that pollution was going to bring another ice age? Maybe we'll switch back to that boogeyman soon.

Early 70's. Very cold

Big blizzards, ice storms.
1972-early freeze, farmers in Iowa had combines frozen in the field from a wet fall and early hard freeze.
Dad combined corn in the snow.

spent Easter of 1974 in the kitchen. Too cold to heat the rest of the house.

My point-
A. We were told the Earth could be going into a mini ice age. I don't remember pollution being the cause.

B. I look at warm and cold cycles. Many of them correspond with the sun spot cycles. Few spots, colder temps.

Early 70's-few
Early 90's Many- god it was hot. Any one remember the Maryville drought?

Maybe the sun has a little to do with the heat of the Earth

I have never heard any teacher or anybody say that pollution will bring in an ice age.

Big Oil-funded Al Jazeera should have known this would happen to the Middle East when they hopped into the same tent with Gore last year.

And ad this to the latest example of yet another not-so-final countdown passing without incident.

And the same prediction from 2009:

Former Vice President Al Gore references computer modeling to suggest that the north polar ice cap may lose virtually all of its ice within the next seven years. “Some of the models suggest that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during some of the summer months, could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years,” says Gore.
I hate to nitpick, but--
