He asks if there is no God what is the basis of moral law? Who defines good and evil?

Many societies with many different religions define good and evil in similar ways and define what would be called moral law in different ways. This leads us to two possibilities:

1) false Gods are able to give moral law as well as true Gods

or

2) humans creates religions in which moral laws and good and evil are encoded. In which case, humans seems perfectly capable of establishing moral law and good and evil on their own. It seems entirely possible for us to have moral expectations in society (don't kill, don't steal, honor your relationships and commitments) without religion.

Got 34 minutes in, and I just can't waste any more time. This guy is obviously intelligent. He's mastered the basic structure of a "sermon/lecture" to a large crowd full of people who don't know enough philosophy to understand you're breaking all the rules. Oh, and these people have already decided you're brilliant and can't wait to tell their atheist friend that Doctor Whatshisnuts just basically proved that Jesus was true and stuff.

Anyone with a passing knowledge of philosophy can destroy these "arguments" and anybody versed in rhetoric will just hear the tone of his voice and assume he's full of shit. I hope he sells a whole lot of books to midwesterners who vote against their own interests. Enjoy not paying taxes, churches!

Oh boy. No. These are not the only two options.

Of course not. Many possibilities could be speculated.

But to argue that all morality and knowing the difference between right and wrong can only come from the one true god is pretty illogical.

My main point was that if religions are a human invention, then by default morality and our current sense of right and wrong are also a human invention.

Look in the mirror my friend and tell me which side of the aisle 'is really' legislating morality when you say "or try to share my beliefs with you ?? I realize you are talking about yourself personally but I am talking of the bigger picture here.

You first had Roe v Wade, then the whole state of CA said NO to gay marriage but your side decided to use judicial activism and overturn the NO decision by the people of CA. It's your COEXIST term that is such an oxymoron that is totally intolerant of 'real Christianity' being lived out and it's obvious you don't recognize it let alone know about it. I'm not being sarcastic here. COEXIST is just another lefty propaganda term designed to look nice and innocent on the outside while attacking those who live their 'real Christian faith' and they use uneducated 'useful Liberal idiots' to do it. They don't care about other religions or luke warm Christian churches because they are not a threat to society or the culture. But they definitely go after 'salty Christian churches and salty Christians' because they do make a significant difference in the culture and society. Remember what your side of the aisle is trying to do right now in our culture and society. It is to rip the Judeo/Christian value system from the soul of our society. They can't do that very successfully IF real Christian Light shines in the darkness and real Christian Salt flavors our culture and society. Trust me this 'COEXIST crap' is not a genuine Rodney King plea of "Can't we all just get along".
