Shame? Hardly. Shame is a wholly inappropriate emotion in light of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us all, IMHO. The reason I hesitate to call my faith a religion is that I hold too many heretical views for most mainstream churches. It is there, as well as in the halls of government and academia, that you'll find religion, for the most part, whether it is based on the reality of God or not.

I see. I find it interesting that many people of faith don't like aspects of their religion.

I'd like to ask you, since pat hasn't answered. Why do you think atheism is a religion? What faith do you think it requires?

Aren't you an adherent to the deities in black robes on our SC? I think so. Well, they've designated atheism as a religion as it does address the big questions of life including end of life concerns, in their own way.

Unless the atheist stance is that there is no reasonable evidence that there is one. I have never heard a credible person say they can prove there is no god. That simply not something that is provable. That stance is a conclusion having nothing to do with faith~

LOL... no. That doesn't require faith. No different than it doesn't require any faith to not believe in unicorns or leprechauns.

The burden of proof lies with those claiming that a personal god exists.

The burden of proof also lies with those who say a personal god does not exist.
Your side can't do that either. So you do have faith there is no personal god.

No dummy, it does not. Logic fail.

It does if you go around asserting there isn't one -- never mind what others may believe. Belief requires NO proof. The laws of the physical world do NOT apply.
So you're the dummy and your logic is an EPIC FAIL. Differentiating categories of things is part of logic too.

A universal negative is not provable therefore atheists cannot prove there is no god.

Likewise, there is no way to prove a belief, in the sense we're using it.* Because beliefs are based on convictions which don't require proof for those who hold them.

* Not as in " I believe the package arrived on Friday." This means it's possibly true but person is not stating such a thing as a certain fact. However, something of this nature could be checked via logs etc to determine it true as a fact.
