2nd Immaculate Conception, at the Vatican even.

Article is real the image may or may not be real...

OK its real but maybe not a picture of the nun involved.

A nun in Italy went to the hospital last week after she experienced stomach pains. It turns out she was actually pregnant, delivering a 9-pound baby boy she named Francesco, after Pope Francis.

"I did not know I was pregnant. I only felt a stomach pain," Roxana Rodriguez, the 31-year-old native of El Salvador, told Italian news agency ANSA from her hospital bed in Rieti. Other new mothers at the hospital started a clothing and donation drive for the nun, who had no clue that she was pregnant. Rodriguez gave birth on Wednesday, according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

Rodriguez belongs to a convent in Campomoro known as Little Disciples of Jesus, which is in charge of a home for the elderly.

The unexpectedly pregnant nun, who took vows of chastity, said she would take care of the baby. Her fellow nuns at the convent said they were “very surprised” that one of their own was pregnant.

Rodriguez insisted that she was confused about being pregnant and suggested that she didn’t have sex.

“It’s not possible. I’m a nun,” she told the hospital, the New York Post reported.

Don Fabrizio Borello, a local pastor, said he took the nun at her word about not knowing she was pregnant.

"I guess she's telling the truth when she says she arrived at the hospital unaware of the pregnancy," Borello said, according to the BBC.

A spokesman for the local bishop, who apparently did not think the birth was an immaculate conception, said the nun should not continue her duties after getting pregnant.

“It would be preferable that she now lead a secular life with her baby, away from religious institutions,” he said, according to the Post.

The pregnant nun named her baby Francesco, after Pope Francis. News of the birth led hordes of journalists to descend on Rieti, a city with a population of 47,700. The city’s mayor urged the media to respect the nun’s privacy.

This spokesman must not be a Catholic, since the Immaculate Conception refers to Mary being conceived with out Original Sin. ( the capacity for mankind to sin). The term has ZERO to do with the conception of Jesus or her being a virgin.

It's also obvious Dave Lane is no understanding of the words "Immaculate Conception" either. If you're gonna dump on a religious belief, at least understand what is believed.

I don't know where the conception occurred, but this nun isn't from the Vatican.

You don't really think a disgraced nun should be walking around the church greeting parishioners with her illegit baby in tow, do you? The church already said they'd provide help for her, but you obv didn't differentiate that from actually being involved in church. She absolutely belongs out in the real world with the rest of us now

Good observation the Immaculate Conception speaks to Mary and not the birth of Jesus. This was recognized in 1854 followed by the Assumption in 1950. That is unless he was speaking to the purity of the nun~

Strangely many who follow Christianity don't and those who do have no clue to the date in which it was recognized. A few years after the birth of Jesus

Believe it or not, I never understood that myself for many years well into adulthood. It wasn't until my 30's that I got corrected on it by a devout Catholic who is also quite knowledgeable in all things Catholic. A very interesting man. Learned a lot from him. He was a teacher too.

He's the one to told me most Catholics don't really know their faith--let alone be truly touched by it.

Did he address the huge time frame between the event and the Immaculate Conception or the Assumption?
