Execution date set for Michael Taylor

http://www.kansascity.com/2014/01/24...or-killer.html

Execution date of Feb. 26 is set for man sentenced in killing of Ann Harrison
January 24
By TONY RIZZO
The Kansas City Star

The Missouri Supreme Court on Friday set a Feb. 26 execution date for one of two men convicted in the 1989 murder of a Kansas City teenager.

Michael A. Taylor was sentenced to death for the killing of 15-year-old Ann Harrison, who was waiting for a school bus in front of her southeast Kansas City home when she was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and stabbed to death.

Taylor, now 46, had come within hours of being put to death in 2006 before the execution was stayed. A co-defendant, Roderick Nunley, now 48, also remains imprisoned on a death sentence.

Both pleaded guilty, but each implicated the other as the primary assailant. They were sentenced to death by a Jackson County judge.

Taylor is one of about 20 Missouri death row inmates involved in a federal lawsuit challenging the state’s lethal injection procedures.

“This is exceptionally premature in light of the status of the lethal injection litigation,” his attorney, John Simon, said of Friday’s order.

Missouri did not carry out any executions between February 2011 and November. Since then, the state has executed two inmates after adopting a new execution protocol using the drug pentobarbital. A third man, Herbert Smulls, is scheduled for execution early Wednesday.

It is rather perplexing that people who rail against killing the most violence and evil people yet defend unlimited abortion. I support abortion when rape, incest or the mothers survival is involved. However the majority of them are strictly for convenience. It is completely acceptable to many to allow the use abortion as nothing more than contraception~

First, who is railing against the death penalty?
Second, who is defending "unlimited abortion?" Most people who think abortion should be legal don't actually LIKE abortion. They're not in favor of it in the sense that they think everyone should rush out an get one for fun.

Also, you're ignoring that people who think abortion should be legal simply don't believe that terminating a pregnancy is killing a person. While some believe it is a person from the moment sperm hits egg, others don't consider a clump of cells or an unformed fetus to be a person.

Many people think a fetus is nothing more than a worm (because if can't survive on its own) and should be treated as such. But they've convinced themselves that once it pops out of the old vag, even though it'd die if "left to it's own to live", is somehow different.

Perhaps my age is showing, but my 50 years tell me it's ALL about convenience; the technical arguments that support their convenience are just that, technicalities.

I once heard a person opine that "they're pro-abortion" because mother-earth needs population control and if that's what it takes, so be it. While that seemed nuts in it's own way, I had to admit that theres more science in that position than when a fetus/baby can survive on its own without some form of assistance.

First off you reply as if I had quoted you specifically. Your offering of the moment the egg hits simply does not hit the mark. The pro abortion supporters do not even blink when the child has a heartbeat and fight for late term abortions. Would you agree that most abortion supporters are against capitol punishment? If you do not you are being purposely naïve. I will also call out the anti abortion crowd as being pro capitol punishment. The majority of them resistant to sex education and contraception. Many offer up abstinence as the solution. This is equally perplexing to me~

I don't understand how you can feel this way if you are indeed a Christian (I wouldn't consider myself one).

If you are so encompassed by evil that you can committ murder, I just don't see place here for you. What if this person murders someone who had a chance to enter the kingdom of GOD?

Maybe you don't, but is it your place to make the decision to end the life rather than your God's?

Won't the murdered person still go to heaven if that where they were headed?

The consummate attempt to "check" a Christian in a game a mora chess... "Who are you to judge"! LOL!

**** that, I think the "ask for permission" part is done, these days it's more like, "Yeah, I'm a Christian and who are you to stop me?"! "Eye for an eye", "Burnt bush", "why have you forgotten me", "cast the first stone".... **** that, kill or rape somebody I love and prepare to meet your maker! I'm sure I've sealed my fate, so the rest is gravy (and kind of liberating actually). If I'm wrong, I'll by you a beer in hell!

You have to be trolling. Besides would they not be doing that person a favor? After all you believe your reward is in the afterlife. You people cannot wait for this world to end so you can have your paradise~
