Romney - Putin's better President than Obama

Putin a better president than Obama: Romney
By Aaron ShortJanuary 25, 2014 | 3:18am

Mitt Romney thinks Vladimir Putin is better at being president than Barack Obama.

Romney, who lost the presidential race to Obama, told NBC that the Russian leader “outperformed” the president “time and time again on the world stage.”
The former GOP nominee called the US and Russia “geopolitical adversaries,” blamed Putin for giving cover to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and said fugitive leaker Edward Snowden’s asylum in Russia was a “bit of a stick in the eye of America.”

But Romney gave Putin grudging respect as his nation prepares to host the Winter Olympics.

“I think most observers of the international political scene suggest that Russia has elevated itself in stature and America has been diminished,” Romney said.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said he “obviously disagreed” with Romney’s comments

Geez, I mean you don't even try anymore. Just a string of grade-school bad words just shows no effort. I think you can do better than this.

Do they have the same issues to deal with?
Of course not, two very different governments they have to deal with... but I seriously doubt there would've been too much serious opposition if Obama had been more of a hardass on Syria. I've seen your arguments on that nation, that basically it was a win/win, we got what we wanted without real confrontation etc.

I may be wrong I dont follow this as closely, but I dont think its proven beyond doubt that Syria has rid themselves of chemweps, there was a report just last week that they may have been used again... but even beyond that, even a political amateur like myself thought it was very clear that Putin retained the upper hand throughout this whole debacle.

Obama - "Assad must go"

Putin - "he stays"

Guess who's still in office and holding BS talks with the opposition?

Obama wavers, I'm sorry it isnt a glowing report on your guy, but he looks anything but resolute around the world and Gates and several other world leaders agree.

Putin glowered and Obama, while maybe not cowered, sure didnt stand up and pull out his nuts in Putins face... which is the only thing a guy like Vlad understands IMO.

There was huge opposition just at the idea of taking military action in Syria.

Upon further reflection, you're indeed right, I'm not even sure I wanted us to get involved there... but anytime an absolute villain like Putin or China calls your bluff on a "red line" and you as the US president blink and back off of it, its not a good look and doesnt inspire confidence among your allies.

Which is why it was foolish and amateurish for Obama to declare a red line to begin with. The precedent has been set on calling Obama's bluff.

amateurish? what did you expect? the guy had less experience in politics than harry truman's cane...

he didn't come up the political ranks over a period of time, he just jumped right in and the presidency requires someone with real skills, developed over time...

after 5 years in office, he is still a political neophyte on way too many issues...

I really didn't expect anything different that what we have seen. But I doubt that we'll see the left say that executive experience isn't a prerequisite for the office ever again...

This is what I brought up to Patteu when he tried to argue Putin is more authoritarian. Indeed he is. Of course, that's only because his system is more pliant than ours, and Obama's cronies tried that IRS nonsense against their enemies here. If Obama was there and Putin was here, you'd see who the bigger authoritarian is.

In 1976 the Dems said experience didn't matter. But in 1980 it did. In 1992 it didn't but then in 2000 it did again. They reversed course on this once more in 2008. Confusing? Yeah just a bit.
