Romney - Putin's better President than Obama

Putin a better president than Obama: Romney
By Aaron ShortJanuary 25, 2014 | 3:18am

Mitt Romney thinks Vladimir Putin is better at being president than Barack Obama.

Romney, who lost the presidential race to Obama, told NBC that the Russian leader “outperformed” the president “time and time again on the world stage.”
The former GOP nominee called the US and Russia “geopolitical adversaries,” blamed Putin for giving cover to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and said fugitive leaker Edward Snowden’s asylum in Russia was a “bit of a stick in the eye of America.”

But Romney gave Putin grudging respect as his nation prepares to host the Winter Olympics.

“I think most observers of the international political scene suggest that Russia has elevated itself in stature and America has been diminished,” Romney said.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said he “obviously disagreed” with Romney’s comments

Thanks for your opinion. As usual, it seems a bit off. Did your girl leave you for the LDS church or something?

I, for one, appreciate Romney's candid and well informed assessment. I prefer straight shooting like this over whatever bullshit you must think he should be peddling.

Yeah, the defeated candidate will give an honest informed opinion of the guy who beat him. He probably shouldn't be peddling anything. Maybe he doesn't know how pathetic it looks.

Kerry and McCain both returned to the Senate after losing and actually had a reason to speak out about things. Still, when they would criticize I'd always think, "That's the bitter loser talking." Mitt doesn't have the excuse that he's just doing his job because he's in office. He has a need to go seek the attention so he can continue his campaign even after he's lost. Twice now he's been rejected as a presidential candidate. Very few people really care what he has to say. Other than to snicker at him a little.

I suspect that your cynicism comes more from how you would behave in a similar situation than it does from Romney. It's clear to me that you don't understand the man.

That's just dumb. First because it's dumb to say that you shouldn't express opinions on current events unless it's a part of your job and second because you think Romney sought the opportunity to criticize Obama out. Really absurd stuff.

Not sure if or fits better here.

He's certainly free to do so. It just makes him look like a bitter loser. And without a "natural" outlet to do so like McCain and Kerry had, it makes him look even more sad. Of course he seeks out the opportunity to criticize Obama. How else would it happen?

Frankly, it's behavior I would expect from someone who is planning another run. He's says that's not the case. It takes a certain amount of denial and cluelessness to get rejected twice then still come back to bash the guy who beat you.

I missed the part where he says Putin would be a better president.

Not that they mean anything, but his popularity numbers are in the mid 60s.

Not that I care, but he seems to be kinda liked by the folks he represents.

Meh...

I'm not saying Putin isn't popular with some...I'm saying no where do I see where Romney says Putin would be a better president.

I know you're not over here a lot, but the backstory is that there was a thread awhile ago about Putin, and a surprising number of freedom-loving right-wingers surprisingly expressed their admiration for him. When people who consider Obama an oppressive dictator praise Putin, it makes sane people like me think we have entered bizarro world. I imagine the Putin admiration is more due to ignorance and irrational Obama hatred but it shows how nuts the RWNJs have become.
