Mitt - Netflix documentary

Anyone seen it? Really interesting. Between that and his great appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show, I think a lot of people will walk out of it finding the guy to be a really likeable guy.

I think it says a lot about the leftist political agenda of the media...(edited) not to mention the incompetence of the RNC to make this guy seem so unlikeable during the general election.

Why is it up to the "leftist political agenda" to mention the incompetence of the RNC? The "leftist political agenda" was to defeat Mitt, not to make sure the RNC received its due blame.

Anyway, Mitt runs his own campaign. The RNC doesn't run it. The RNC didn't make Mitt say the things he said.

An extra comman would have made it more clear. "The leftist political agenda of the media... not to mention the incompetence of the RNC"

And I think you're naive if you think the RNC didn't neuter the hell out of Romney.

That makes a little more sense but Mitt had too many self-inflicted wounds to blame the media. Is anything the fault of the candidate who flubbed his way through the campaign and was forced to flip-flop on all the positions he held as governor? The media's fault...gimme a break.

I haven't seen the documentary so maybe there's something in there regarding the RNC, but like I said it is the ROMNEY campaign. The RNC is not running things. And the way all these PACs and SuperPACs work now, the national political party is probably less important than it used to be.

Mitt had lots of self-inflicted wounds. But I think it says a lot when the media investigates for months every last detail about Mitt's finances and even the treatment of his dog, yet waits for almost a year to look into Benghazi. It is pretty impossible for the left to deny that regardless of your position on any of those issues, the media attention was horribly biased.

The Romney campaign gained a really late surge, when the Romney kids and Ann were basically running the campaign. The political party heavily influenced the kind of positions Romney never seemed comfortable taking.

Statements like that make it hard to take you seriously. His finances should be fair game. He's got 100s of millions. What did he think was going to happen? And what did he think was going to happen by not releasing his tax returns? There was no investigation for months about his dog, although there may have been jokes about it from Jay Leno. And the Benghazi statement is ridiculous.

Romney's responsible for his campaign. If he was in fact influenced by the RNC, that his own fault. Geez, its the fault of the media and the RNC...so much for taking responsibility for one's own actions.

Mitt's flaw was fatal.

He's a rich guy who does a shit ton of charity and gives 10% to his church in addition.

But his religious makeup is to stay silent on his good works.

So he had the worst of all worlds. The media got to speculate and snark on his finances and his religion with his hands [self] tied behind his back.

Kind of the obverse of how few know that Jon Stewart makes nearly double LeBron James and has more houses than Romney, in his dog's name.

I don't have a problem with them looking into his finances. I'm glad they did. I want to know why the media completely punted on Benghazi or "fast and furious." Or why the media didn't even bother to talk about his charitable efforts. At all. Why they talk about Mitt's lavish lifestyle, but make no mention of the record number of hours Obama's spent on the golf course. And how many "surprising" revelations are there about Obama's behavior that could have easily come out years ago, if not for the immunity he got from the media for years? The media that continually fact-checked Romney in the debates, never even bothered to question what Obama said about Benghazi. It's an unfortunate reality that any Republican candidate has to overcome the leftist media. That's incredibly unfortunate.

The documentary and common sense shows that Romney made many tactical errors during the campaign. I'm not saying he's without blame. But the establishment Republicans put him in an almost completely unwinnable position by forcing him to take such a strong, public stance on birth control, by sullying the party's reputation with the whole Todd Akin nonsense, and to take strong stances on controversial issues like abortion and gay rights. Not to mention that Romney had to stoop to the party line to win the candidacy and even after winning the candidacy, had to suck up to the party heads to gain their endorsements.

There are enough little things that could have swung the election. What if the media was even remotely fair in equal time, and did just as much work digging up dirt about Obama? What if Romney wasn't forced into commenting about abortion, rape, and birth control -- could he have swung some of the female moderates instead of completely getting destroyed? What if the Republican establishment didn't force such a brutal primary season, that crippled any candidate before they even started the general election? Any one of these things could have easily swung enough votes for a Romney win.

Yeah, hit the nail on the head. Rich, charitable and silent is what did him in. What a ridiculous post.

Media punted = didn't come up with the result you wanted

Have any stats on this unequal time, or are you just assuming? Mitt was forced to comment on things he'd prefer not talk about? JFC, are you serious with this? The butthurt about the media is amazing. How much time has been spent on the possibility that Obama wasn't even born here? If the right keeps blaming nonsense like this you'll have the same result next time.

Romney lost because of record black turnout and poor white turnout. He is at least partially responsible for both.
