Obamacare is not working for me

So I enrolled my family into Obamacare.

In the state of Indiana, there are only three insurance companies who are willing to participate the Market Exchange: Anthem, PHP, and MDwise.

Anthem has very limited doctors and no local hospital.

PHP has many local doctors but no local hospital.

MDwise has local hospital but no local doctor.

I chose PHP but if my family indeed need hospital care, we have to drive 60 miles away.

What is the point to have an insurance policy like this?

That is the essence of the letter which I wrote to our President last week.

Yes, taking the penalty is an option. But it seems to me that we can't take the penalty every year as it will get progressively severe. And the coverage problem is still left wide open.
Your government is on the attack and your loyalty is misspent.

Opt out.

A Surprising Health Insurance Option For Those Who Refuse ObamaCare

The Democrats who dreamed up, wrote and rammed through ObamaCare are getting worried that millions of Americans, especially the young and healthy, will refuse coverage under the program. Democrats are right to be concerned, but that doesn’t necessarily mean people will remain uninsured. They may opt for a less-comprehensive and much more affordable policy instead.

Many of us in the health policy world warned Democrats that ObamaCare created a number of perverse economic incentives. In most cases they simply refused to listen. Now that the actuaries have started weighing in on the cost of coverage...

This is really a wonderful strategy. You'll really be teaching Obama a lesson if you get sick or hurt.

So true.

Besides, as long as you don't sit on your ass doing nothing until the bill goes to a third party collector, health care providers will settle for pennies on the dollar.

On the other hand, you could ignore the article that Forbes published and go with cosmo on the football board.

A South Carolina woman told cops that a male acquaintance stole “her government issued ‘Obama Phone’” and a pair of rented DVDs from her residence, according to a police report.

Rosa Clowney, a 61-year-old Spartanburg resident, told officers that she had invited a man named “Ted” over to her house Thursday night to watch a pair of movies she had rented from the library (“Act of Valor” and “The Bourne Identity”).

After watching the films, Clowney told police, “Ted” left her residence with the DVDs and her blue “Obama Phone.” Clowney said that she had no other information about “Ted,” adding that she was reporting the theft because “the library was going to charge her $65.00 for the missing movies.”

The Spartanburg Police Department larceny report is apparently the first time the phrase “Obama Phone” has been memorialized in such a document.

Free phone program was started by Reagan.
George W Bush expanded it to cell phones.

I type that so much I probably should just make it my signature.

My employer offers benefits on a cafeteria style plan. We have several choices for insurance. To keep my old plan it would have doubled my contribution. It went from $238/mo to $448/mo. I am not really certain what triggered the jump but I speculate my old plan was considered a Cadillac Plan.

Fortunately for my wife and I we are very healthy. I opted for one of the High Deductible plans with an HSA that dropped me down to $88/mo and I invest the difference into the HSA. Only time will tell how it works out.
