Hillary Clinton: Benghazi ‘biggest’ regret

Hillary admits she lied and knew of the lie.

Hillary Clinton: Benghazi ‘biggest’ regret

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton remained vague on her 2016 ambitions Monday, but said her biggest regret while leading the department was the 2012 attacks in Benghazi.

“You make these choices based on imperfect information and you make them to — as we say — the best of your ability. But that doesn’t mean that there’s not going to be unforeseen consequences, unpredictable twists and turns,” Clinton said Monday during the National Automobile Dealers Association conference in New Orleans, according to video from CNN.

Clinton, asked if she would have any “do-overs,” replied, “Oh, sure.”

“My biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi. It was a terrible tragedy, losing four Americans two diplomats and now it’s public, so I can say two CIA operatives,” Clinton said. Blaming it on a video was the only thing we could come up with on such a short notice. I sent Susan Rice to do the Sunday news shows I'm nobody's fool.

She added that Ambassador Chris Stevens, who also died during the attack, was “one of our very best but he had to take the collateral damage for this administration” I'm sorry the others lost their lives also, I guess that makes them patriots she said laughingly.

The behavior of Clinton’s aides increasingly signals they realize Benghazi remains an issue for her. Marking a new phase in the pushback, Clinton’s adviser Philippe Reines recently appeared on CNN himself to address Benghazi following the Senate report faulting the State Department for the attack.

No, it didn't. The existence of the terrorists was kept secret at the time of that story.

Ask 5 people the reason why terrorists attacked on 9/11. You'll get 5 different answers. US targets have been attacked many, many times over the years. This kind of detail has never been an issue before. Suddenly, excatly what pissed off the terrorists is a huge scandal.
When did the relatively obscure video come out? When did the coordinated tactical assault take place? You are better than this. There are several trivial issues blown out of proportion about this administration you can stand solid defending against. This is a low point in our history and the handling of it proceeding the attack and after it is disgusting. That is simply undisputable by anyone with integrity~

It's not Right vs. Left or Democrat vs. Republican here. These aren't word games in my posts, except the word games that I am quoting from Hillary Clinton.

Are you denying that e-mails were sent by the embassy to the Obama administration notifying them that a terrorist group was claiming responsibility for the attack before Hillary Clinton blamed the video?

When the video was released probably isn't as important as when the protesters became aware of it. I don't know the answer.

I don't think this part is getting through--there were angry protests in several places that same day that were over that video. Referencing the video wasn't some bizarre idea they pulled out of the sky. It was mentioned for a reason--it was relevant to events of that day.

Sure, it was relevant in that it was blamed for a terrorist attack.

For what its worth: (I know, NYT, it's worth nothing)

http://www.nytimes.com/projects/2013...azi/#/?chapt=0

Months of investigation by The New York Times, centered on extensive interviews with Libyans in Benghazi who had direct knowledge of the attack there and its context, turned up no evidence that Al Qaeda or other international terrorist groups had any role in the assault. The attack was led, instead, by fighters who had benefited directly from NATO’s extensive air power and logistics support during the uprising against Colonel Qaddafi. And contrary to claims by some members of Congress, it was fueled in large part by anger at an American-made video denigrating Islam.

United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice’s comments on the Sunday news shows following the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya:

ABC: "But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous — not a premeditated — response to what had transpired in Cairo. In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated."

CBS: "So we’ll want to see the results of that [FBI] investigation to draw any definitive conclusions. But based on the best information we have to date, what our assessment is as of the present is in fact what began spontaneously in Benghazi as a reaction to what had transpired some hours earlier in Cairo where, of course, as you know, there was a violent protest outside of our embassy– –sparked by this hateful video. But soon after that spontaneous protest began outside of our consulate in Benghazi, we believe that it looks like extremist elements, individuals, joined in that– in that effort with heavy weapons of the sort that are, unfortunately, readily now available in Libya post-revolution. And that it spun from there into something much, much more violent."

FOX:"Well, first of all, Chris, we are obviously investigating this very closely. The FBI has a lead in this investigation. The information, the best information and the best assessment we have today is that in fact this was not a preplanned, premeditated attack. That what happened initially was that it was a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired in Cairo as a consequence of the video. People gathered outside the embassy and then it grew very violent and those with extremist ties joined the fray and came with heavy weapons, which unfortunately are quite common in post-revolutionary Libya and that then spun out of control."

NBC:"Well, let us– let me tell you the– the best information we have at present. First of all, there’s an FBI investigation which is ongoing. And we look to that investigation to give us the definitive word as to what transpired. But putting together the best information that we have available to us today our current assessment is that what happened in Benghazi was in fact initially a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired hours before in Cairo, almost a copycat of– of the demonstrations against our facility in Cairo, which were prompted, of course, by the video. What we think then transpired in Benghazi is that opportunistic extremist elements came to the consulate as this was unfolding. They came with heavy weapons which unfortunately are readily available in post revolutionary Libya. And it escalated into a much more violent episode. Obviously, that’s– that’s our best judgment now. We’ll await the results of the investigation. And the president has been very clear–we’ll work with the Libyan authorities to bring those responsible to justice"

CNN:" I have been to Libya and walked the streets of Benghazi myself. And despite what we saw in that horrific incident where some mob was hijacked ultimately by a handful of extremists, the United States is extremely popular in Libya and the outpouring of sympathy and support for Ambassador Stevens and his colleagues from the government, from people is evidence of that."

Not denying or admitting. I don't know. I do know that "a terrorist group" (which anyone could call themselves) claiming responsiblity isn't necessarily credible.

I would think you would be willing to admit this was mishandled from snap to whistle. I would have the same exact stance no matter who was in power. You're showing poor form here in my opinion~
