Minimum wage will go up to $10.10 according to the Prez

It is only for new federal government contracts for services, like janitors and construction workers. What happens to the $15 minimum wage the fast food workers want?

It raises no wage. It applies to contracts that have not been let. Good time to be a contractor, Now all your employees hate you. You have a janitorial contract with the feds…the fee is set….and all your trash dumpers want the new deal. But you can't do the new deal and Obama won't let you out of the deal you have.

Ha haha

**** you contractor and trash dumpers. Obama. Forward.

Yup, that is exactly my view.

It has nothing to do with the cost of living in the United States.

It has nothing to do with my tax dollars going to support working Americans because they don't earn enough.

It has nothing to do with Historical rates of pay, and 30 years of wage stagnation.

It has nothing to do with the American Labor tradition that 8 hours a day, 5 days a week was enough to enjoy American society without government help.

It has nothing to do with the massive stimulus to the economy a pay raise would bring.

It only has to do with giving them money because they exist.

This has been told them countless times. They ignore it, like they ignore all the evidence presented for raising the wage.

I honestly don't think that much thought went in to it. If I remember correctly, the $15 number was more or less blurted out by someone for whom that figure was seen as an extravagant windfall.

The rising minimum wage is exactly the kind of dumb policy that is leading to alarming unemployment among young people in Europe. Rather than raise minimum wage, how about using that same money to ncrease upward mobility for our minimum wage workers?

Increasing minimum wage at a time when small businesses are squeezed, and entry level employment is impossible to come by, is just plain stupid.

Wages in China have inflated extremely rapidly over the last few years. There are strikes there quite often these days. There are Chinese firms that are outsourcing manufacturing to North Korea and Vietnam.
