You're not supposed to do anything since it's not your company. You can not like it all you want.

I'm sure that's stopped you from criticizing politicians from states and cities you don't live in. Convenient that this for some reason matters so much in this context.

If you feel these companies are doing bad, don't buy their stuff and don't buy their stock.

Actually, I've post more that other cities and states can do what they want. I've also posted that states serve as experimental grounds for some things so other states can avoid or copy. At least criticizing a state is a public issue that way. However, I don't spend most of my time on them like you do on executive compensation though. That's strictly a private matter.

I think you should do a search on Bloomberg + BucEyedPea and see what comes up. You don't live in New York. What business do you have criticizing NYC's policies? If you don't like it, then don't live there, and don't voice your opinion about any state or city official or politician you don't live in.

I don't but I do business there from time to time. Fortunately, I don't live there.
I will voice an opinion because some things done by states result in other state's copying it. Take California--it's often called a bellwether state and it is. I said you could not like executive compensation all you want. But it is still private.

And you do business in Utah pretty regularly too, I assume. Because you're pretty vocal about that state too in the Utah lunch thread. And that's just a few examples. I'm sure you've made plenty of other comments about states and cities you don't live in. The idea that you can comment on it because it's a bellweather is dodging it. By that notion, then I guess because I have money in the stock market and in investments and I work for a corporation who could easily copycat similar executive compensation practices from "bellweather" corporations, then I have the right to talk about it. Thanks for clarifying.

And if you must know, I have a mortgage with Chase and have had friends laid off because of the fallout. And you do know, by the way, that Jamie Dimon got bailout money to save JP Morgan, so as a taxpayer, yes it certainly does affect me. And most corporations, by the way, do receive tax incentives that often go directly into executive pay. And you do realize that the $6B penalty is related to unethical activity that contributed to the housing bubble that decimated the economy, which affected us all, right? And you do realize that when multiple companies **** up the executive compensation piece, that affects overall jobs in the economy, which affects all of us, right?

I don't know how this is at all a private matter when the question examines how these companies are hurting our economy.

No I'm not. How long has it been up before I posted anything? Awhile. I only went in because I was bored but paid it no heed until now with one post not on the actual lunch program.

I commented on how a newspaper article about a CHURCH used by someone was from Canada. That's hardly being "vocal."

You don't read do you?

And again, those were likely regarding public policy--NOT a private concern. I usually DEFEND a state's rights and usually against what the federal govt does. That can affect my state. Considering this, I think you're point is misplaced and not the same thing.

You have trouble with things that are different, similar or identical don't you?

Chief, are you aware Bloomberg was financing groups in other states to do as he would do?

I really don't care. Here is a thread about New York where you made plenty of comments.
http://m.chiefsplanet.com/showthread.php?t=272379
There are plenty of matters you comment on that have ZERO effect on you as a non-New Yorker. I'm sure there are plenty of examples of you commenting on governors and mayors of cities and states you don't live in about matters that don't apply to you in other threads, but I'm not going to bother digging. And the bellweather comment is a complete cop-out, as is the claim that you do business in NYC from time to time.

It is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard that corporate issues are private matters and that they are above scrutiny. Especially since you yourself know and have commented many times that corporations are often in bed with the government. In the case of Chase, you have a company that benefited from a $25M bailout, not to mention benefiting off the AIG bailout indirectly. Not to mention the damage Chase did to the general public by contributing to the economic crisis.

Corporations receive plenty of sweetheart incentives that taxpayers pay for. They make decisions that affect thousands of shareholders, employees, and the cities where they do business. Their decisions can often sway the market. CEOs' collective ability to grow companies and create jobs affects the economy as a whole, and the jobs created by the economy. The idea that what corporations do doesn't affect our daily lives is complete baloney.
