Obama on killing the innocent

Give him credit. He can act.

He sees abortion as some sort of good fun though.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/penn...yal-god-s-will

At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, President Barack Obama said that “killing the innocent” is the “ultimate betrayal of God’s will.”

But the president was talking about terrorism, not abortion:

“Extremists succumb to an ignorant nihilism that shows they don’t understand the faiths they claim to profess, for killing the innocent is never fulfilling God’s will. In fact, it is the ultimate betrayal of God’s will,” Obama said.

Yet Obama is a long-time supporter of abortion rights.

No, that's not what I said.

Are you aware that abortion is legal, and therefore not classified as "Killing"?

First, I don't see why this question should follow from my statement. He can be Christian and still turn down the prayer breakfast invitation.

I don't think his "claim" to be Christian is false. I don't think he is particularly religious though.

Do you think his claim to be Christian is false?

Yes, pandering is what politicians do. That doesn't mean we have to prefer it.

You're feisty today.

I'm pretty sure with the benefit of hindsight your parents would have opted for retroactive abortion...
Well, you sure gave it to us. First time I've heard that retro-abortion insult...ouch...you truly are an independent thinker.

Capital punishment is legal and plenty of liberals call it "killing", if not murder. And if you care to look up "murder", it's the taking of an innocent life. Hmmm, sounds kind of familiar.

According to a new Pew research poll, three times as many Americans think abortion is morally wrong as those who think it is morally acceptable. Of the 4,006 adults polled, 49% said abortion was immoral, while only 15% thought it met their moral standards; 23% said abortion was not a moral issue.

38 states have laws against killing fetuses. So abortion as it were may not be "killing" but the laws in the vast majority of our states certainly view the fetus as a person in acts of feticide:

Well that's the point. Just because some group of idiots calls it killing or murder, that doesn't mean that it is.

You're welcome to debate the point in time which a fetus becomes an innocent life. But we already have an established legal standard for that. Because of that, abortion is not the same as taking an innocent life.

"In acts of feticide". Pretty big difference there, wouldn't you say?

Especially when the bill is very explicit about the exception for abortion.

Quote:
The legislation was both hailed and vilified by various legal observers who interpreted the measure as a step toward granting legal personhood to human fetuses, even though the bill explicitly contained a provision excepting abortion, stating that the bill would not "be construed to permit the prosecution" "of any person for conduct relating to an abortion for which the consent of the pregnant woman, or a person authorized by law to act on her behalf", "of any person for any medical treatment of the pregnant woman or her unborn child" or "of any woman with respect to her unborn child."
