Obama on killing the innocent

Give him credit. He can act.

He sees abortion as some sort of good fun though.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/penn...yal-god-s-will

At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, President Barack Obama said that “killing the innocent” is the “ultimate betrayal of God’s will.”

But the president was talking about terrorism, not abortion:

“Extremists succumb to an ignorant nihilism that shows they don’t understand the faiths they claim to profess, for killing the innocent is never fulfilling God’s will. In fact, it is the ultimate betrayal of God’s will,” Obama said.

Yet Obama is a long-time supporter of abortion rights.

You didn't really answer my question. But, the answer is yes.

Do you agree with having a time limit on removing the parasite from the host? If so, what is it?

A lot actually.

What I want is people to be sexually responsible by using birth control, it's really very simple unless you are stupid and or lazy. When that unwanted pregnancy does comes along, I want her to stay away from drugs/alcohol and give birth to a baby that will be healthy for the adoptive parents to raise and give that kid a fair shot at life. I don't want a single mom raising a kid for the most part because statistically it's not working to anyone's benefit; the mother, the child, or society...for the child's benefit, it should be given up for adoption, but that's really not the trend, is it?

Does all this mean I don't get irritated by badly behaving kids? Of course not...I just don't think to myself "Gee, I'd be enjoying this meal a lot more if those kids had been aborted."

Now crappy parents on the other hand are a whole 'nother topic/problem.

Abortion is absolutely the killing of an innocent life. There's no way around that. We can argue about when in the pregnancy process the child becomes 'a life' (embedding? a heartbeat? outside viability?) but with the term covering everything from first-trimester abortive cocktails to literally the last second, I have no problem applying the blanket term 'alive' to the many adjectives used to describe a baby in utero, and he or she is unquestionably 'innocent'.

The other point I want to make is that, although they're being tossed around in here almost interchangeably, 'killing' and 'murder' aren't the same thing. There are times when killing is perfectly legal (war or self-defense). There are even times when killing an innocent person is perfectly legal (if you're forced to do it by someone else). Some people call abortion murder, and some don't, and just because it is, at its heart, the killing of an innocent, it doesn't automatically make it crime-worthy.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if it were, at the very least when a heartbeating, brainthinking, painfeeling, third-trimester baby who is completely ready for life and the world, gets set upon by someone with forceps and a Sawzall, because that s*** is barbaric and subhuman. That, though, is my personal view, where here I'm talking about the society as a whole. I recognize there are other views.

So that's Thought One. Thought Two is that the statement was also in terribly bad taste - not to mention politically idiotic - to let that line out at a prayer breakfast. Are we to believe that not one Presidential speechwriter considered the ramifications, or that the President steamrolled right over the concerns? Either option is pretty damn dumb.

The Holocaust Museum is opt-in - when you go up that first elevator, you're doing it on purpose and you know what to expect. Here, we can't opt-out without leaving the conversation.

Please, no pictures. Anyway, if you're good at presenting your point, you should be able to make it with words.

Would you like some type of forced adoption system? As if the mother couldn't meet certain requirements they had to give it up?

Is that what you think you said before? Your partisan glasses must be pretty thick. There are certainly people who oppose abortion and think there are better ways to encourage a healthy society than our current welfare system.

It is exactly the same. I just left out your lunacy that thinking kids working for lunch may not be a bad idea.

Are there other options or are we limited to either forced adoption vs current welfare system?

Images are powerful...and I see plenty I don't particularly volunteer for...but I can turn away, just like you can in this thread. And with referencing the holocaust again, do you think the magnitude of that cruelty would have been able to be as effective without those gruesome images? People talk all the time in this forum about people being "ignorant"...perhaps that photo educated some of the people here as to how late some abortions are being allowed in this country.
