Have you ever changed an opinion?

In reading in this forum, have you ever changed an opinion on any topic as a result of your own conversations or by observing the ones that go on here?

I don't think there is really a right or wrong answer, but I am just curious how many people have had a change in the way they think about or view any of the topics discussed.

The poll is a simply yes or no, so feel free to elaborate on the number of times this may have happened and the subjects that it happened with if you so choose.

One time I said something that Race Card agreed with, and scared me so shitless I immediately changed my mind and went straight to confession. (And I'm not even a Catholic)

That is an interesting twist, in that someone you (you in general) traditionally have disagreements with, could be in agreement with you on something which then leads you to change an opinion based on that. I have seen people comment about that before, but I wonder if there is any actual change or if it is just tucked away and never spoken of again.

Hard to say; many people might reconsider how they think, but it takes a lot of moxie to admit it openly...but for the overwhelming majority, I'm sure not.

Most of the opinions in here are so far left or right I can't say I've switched on anything. I have shifted some on aspects of my opinions but I don't think it's possible for me to ever switch to the positions being spouted in here.

So far the pole indicates otherwise, which is kind of surprising so far considering the resistance most of us come in here with. It doesn't have to be any major issue, so even the small ones count, which is where I am sure most people are deriving their "yes" from.

I have changed my opinion on whether or not I should do a poll at least 8 times. My current stance is no, because I believe that by entering a yes or no CP takes part of your soul. As it stands now, I really don't have much of my soul left and can't really afford to give anymore.

Yeah, I voted for Obama in round 1.

By round 2 I had changed my mind.

The reason is that I disagree with what he has done. His entire term has been marred by implementing policies - from bailing out banks and auto makers to subsidizing insurance companies to continuing an unwinnable war - that fly in the face of everything I believe.

The people his policies facilitate has been and are the economic elites. That my "progressive" friends cannot see that is stunning.

Change is change. Whether you are changing your view to something directly mentioned by someone else, or whether the conversations here served as a catalyst for your own evaluation and change then I would say that still counts.

But I agree that it is hard to change to exactly be in line with someone else's view. That is really true for anything though.

I suppose it depends on how you view the "change" to be. Are we referring to small, incremental changes or full changes.

For example, let's say I'm against all abortions. Due to conversations here I'm convinced that abortions when the health of the mother are in question should be allowed. I still think abortions are wrong. Did I really change my opinion or just make allowances for the other side? It's a tough dynamic to qualify in my mind. I suppose I might be overly stringent on qualifying change though.
