You know there was a time when collecting interest was an unpardonable sin? Same with divorce, hair-braiding, crop rotation, interracial marriage, and tattoos. Slavery, torture, and witch-burning were fine, though, once.

Times change. Culture refines. Religion refines with it. I like to think that over time, it's for the better.

Well Jesus Christ manifested in flesh should pull something out of his ass. Miracles like healing the blind or casting demons into pigs seems to be too much to ask for the vicars they have offered up so I guess they should at least be agreeable~

I agree with this post.

As far as young people and church go, however, I have to wonder how many of them would be there if their parents didn't make them go.

Also, just because they attend church doesn't mean that they're buying what the church is selling. I use to attend church with my grandparents twice a week. I mostly tuned it out. As a preteen, i really started to not give a shit after watching the collections plate go-round and then meeting the pastor after church next to his shiny new BMW. At that point, i really started to question religion. Watching my grandparents struggle yet still give money everyweek to a church that clearly didn't need it really irked me and pushed me away from it.

Young people often attend church just to socialize with their peers. This is more common than i thought. My wife still tells stories about when she was a teen. Her mom would make her and her siblings go to church and she'd just sit around socializing with her friends who's parents also made them attend. From what i've gathered, Church was a pretty popular hang out spot for teens...but it had nothing to do with God or religion.

My point being, i wouldn't draw any conclusions just because you see youngsters attending church. It really doesn't mean too much.

Which leads to the logical conclusion that these teachings are man made and evolve as man evolves~

Or, that the nature of divinity is limited by human understanding, and the more time goes on, the more we understand of it, towards some hypothetically future final enlightenment.

Or, that the nature, not just of man, but of reality itself is changing over time, and the nature of divinity is changing, not with us, but with it.

Or, that we are only part way through a species-long education.

Or, a combination of these, and/or lots of other theological reasonings that have nothing to do with the one, simple, single-dimensional sound bite that you just came up with.

I'm going with man made. It is the best I answer I have found to the question: did god make man or did man make many gods~

Religion was created when the first con man met the first fool - Mark Twain

Younger generations seem less worried about what their elders think. Common sense prevails on topics like religion (any religion). If it looks and smells like bull$h!t its probably bull$h!t. Rather then the older generations way of looking at it -well mommy and daddy believe it and grandma and grandpa believe it and I want to go to heaven with them so I believe it too because if you dont believe it you go to hell.
