David Jolly (R) defeats Alex Sink (D) in special election

This election was considered a toss-up and closely watched. Just don't know about anyone here. It was a special election to replace Republican Congressman
Bill Young who died in office this past fall. Sink wanted to keep Obamacare and Democrat turnout was reported as heavy earlier in the day by Jolly. Sink outspent him by more than double with money coming from D.C.

Jolly won. The Libertarian took some votes away too. Some consider it a harbinger for the fall elections. Let's hope so.

Way to go Pinellas County.

Sink raised more money but Jolly got bailed out by national interests that are looking to use the victory as a narrative against the Affordable Healthcare Act. (Think Koch brothers.) You can stop gloating now. The small gap in the final election results mirror the party demographics for the county. So it's not surprising that Jolly won with the influx of national money and the demographics of the county.

But seriously... How do you not vote for anyone named "Jolly"? That would be akin to booing and throwing snowballs at Santa during a half-time show. Good thing for Jolly the election wasn't held in Philly.
Lol. Spin baby spin.

Here's some reality for Harry Reid's ball washers. Seems the EVIL Koch brothers aren't so scary after all. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014...ferent-unions/

Yeah, I mean if you call the Koch brothers evil for making partisan political donations, you have to say the same thing about Unions.

The left has always been hypocritical about campaign finance.

The Koch brother aren't the reason the ACA is unpopular... but they are taking advantage of it. That's called politics.

I really hope there is a Republican wave election, because - all partisanship aside - this country was lied to so deliberately and so maliciously about Obamacare, voters have to hold the government accountable. If we miss this opportunity to show the government that we won't tolerate this obscene level of lying and corruption, it's just going to unchain even more of it.

Of course, wave elections are really only possible in midterms becuase the less educated voters are less likely to turn out. Unfortunately for president and in presidential election years, identity politics prevail

In January, Stuart Rothenburg of Roll Call and The Rothenberg Political Report called it the race democrats can't afford to lose.

Quote:
It’s rare in politics that anything other than a presidential contest is viewed as a “must win” — but the special election in Florida’s 13th District falls into that category for Democrats.

A loss in the competitive March 11 contest would almost certainly be regarded by dispassionate observers as a sign that President Barack Obama could constitute an albatross around the neck of his party’s nominees in November. And that could make it more difficult for Democratic candidates, campaign committees and interest groups to raise money and energize the grass roots.

Just heard Debbie Wasserman Shultz. She has a pretty firm grip on this. The Republican guy won but it was close enough that it really wasn't a win for the Repubs. The Dems must have not spent much cause she said the R's poured tons into the race way more than deems did

So its really a positive for the Democrats.

Or something

Rolleyes all you want, but the facts are Democrats outspent Republicans 4 to 1 in that race.

That is a George Soros funded propaganda site. Sorry you've been mislead. He is a deceptive SOB.
Most non partisan sites are reporting 3 or 4 to 1 when outside labor union money is counted. Bill Clinton also campaigned for her and that didn't work.
