Update on Ukraine Situation

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama’s national security team discussed the Ukraine crisis in a session at the White House on Saturday after a last-ditch bid to find a diplomatic solution to the Cold War-style standoff with Russia floundered.

Secretary of State John Kerry, who just returned from talks with his Russian counterpart in London, was at the White House meeting along with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

Obama did not attend the meeting but was being briefed about it and other developments involving Ukraine, said Laura Lucas Magnuson, a spokeswoman for the White House National Security Council.

Why would they need to vote when most of them already live in the Russian Federation? Can't please everyone there.

Crimean Tatars still remember being "cleansed" by Russia. They have been against the Russian annexation of Crimea since the beginning. I am not sure I understand your point.

Tatars weren't always nice guys with clean hands either. Check your history. They're apparently not the majority there now. In fact most live in the Russian Federation. Your point has nothing to do with what's going on today. Your people were used a pawns by outsiders.

Of course they're not the majority, they were deported to Siberia by Stalin to die there. They were then able to return to Crimea once it became a part of Ukraine.

My point was to show the ridiculousness of the "referendum."

One has to wonder what Obama says now....

That being said, perhaps we should see if we can get a vote going in Mexico (or parts of it at least).

Of course you don't support it. You're Ukrainian. That's your natural bias at work. That's why there is a conflict.

I see that you need to get your categories straightened out though. Stalin was a Georgian, a Bolshevik and a paranoid sociopath who saw enemies everywhere....yet you act as if he's a Russian. Stop it!

To my knowledge it was Gorby that let the Tatars back into their ancestral land. Still, they are only 13% and it's been under Russian control for 200 years. Russia is not going to lose what they consider a vital national security asset when outsiders are agitating this conflict for their own agenda and are now using it as a pretext. Blame the right target and there just may be a more peaceful resolution.

I notice, though, that you don't even consider the Kiev Pogroms of 1919 against Jews as a form of ethnic cleansing--something the Bolsheviks were against. The British ethnically cleansed the Chagos islands as late as 1970; American govt is charged with doing it to the Native Americans; Israel gets accused of doing it to the native Palestinians. I am sure the list goes on.

Lastly, the Russians are claiming they fear ethnic cleansing too. That's why there is a conflict--and someone is interested in keeping it going. There are third party players involved here using your people as pawns in their NWO global chess game to centralize power globally.

Looks like Russia has just pulled out over $100B (a record withdrawal) in treasury holdings from the Fed and moved it to a different jurisdiction:

Oh! They can play the game too! And hurt us. Even Cameron of the UK mentioned sanctions which will punish his own country as well. We have a crisis of leadership these days. They're all fricking insane and no better than Putin.
