Gay Agenda claims a new victim: Mozilla CEO

They just want to be accepted as equals. Nothing more, nothing less.

Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich forced to resign for supporting traditional marriage laws
BY JOEL GEHRKE | APRIL 3, 2014 AT 3:48 PM

Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich resigned under pressure after gay rights activists demanded that he step down or recant his support of traditional marriage laws.

Eich donated $1,000 to support Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that amended the state's constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

"I don't want to talk about my personal beliefs because I kept them out of Mozilla all these 15 years we've been going,” Eich told The Guardian. “I don't believe they're relevant.”

That wasn't an option. "CEO Brendan Eich should make an unequivocal statement of support for marriage equality," a Credoaction petition signed by almost 75,000 people said, per The Inquirer. "If he cannot, he should resign. And if he will not, the board should fire him immediately."

When asked if his beliefs about marriage should constitute a firing offense the way racism or sexism does, Eich argued that these religious beliefs — and beliefs popular as of 2008 — should not be used as a basis for dismissal.

"I don't believe that's true, on the basis of what's permissible to support or vote on in 2008," he told CNET. "It's still permissible. Beliefs that are protected, that include political and religious speech, are generally not something that can be held against even a CEO. I understand there are people who disagree with me on this one."

On Thursday, Mozilla announced that he had resigned. "Mozilla prides itself on being held to a different standard and, this past week, we didn't live up to it," executive chairwoman Mitchell Baker wrote. "We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right"

There is a fairly long list of marriage rights and benefits.
What an idiot. Because a wrong has become institutionalised we should just keep it or perpetuate it by expanding it to gays.

All of these things can easily be dealt with and have been dealt with in many cases where gays didn't have legal marriage rights.

I support gay marriage rights because I have no reasonable hope that we'll get govt out of the equation like it should be... mostly because of morons like you who will support any excuse to get old mother govt involved in every aspect of our lives.

Take religion out of this conversation and there isn't a conversation. I have never met anyone that is not religious and against 2 consenting adults wanting the same tax breaks, insurance rules, death benefits and the government recognizing there union. We need a new political party that shares conservative views minus the religion BS that comes along with it. It's quite frustrating.

I'm not religious and I think it's complete bullshit for two gays to get breaks I don't get as a single man... of course I think it's complete bullshit that straight married people get those benefits.

And what about the nutty polygamists? It's ok to discriminate against them because they are such a small and non-vocal minority?

Oh and to address the Mozilla situation. The CEO had to go. Anyone who thinks otherwise has no clue what Mozilla's target demographics look like. Having an "anti-gay" stigma attached to Mozilla would have further crippled a company that is already struggling.

Well that didn't address any of the concerns, nor did say what would replace the government.

And morons like me go back to English Common law. That is where you will find a good beginning to modern marriage law.

Really? You're kidding. People should be free to believe whatever the hell they want and others should accept freedom. When GM ran Olympic ads of gay dudes getting married, their blue collar customers whined and GM didn't care. Mozilla ain't losing any customers over this GMAFB. Capitulating makes them look like fools

There is obviously more to the story. Last week 3 board members quit after he was chosen as the new CEO because they felt he was the wrong person to lead the company in the new mobile world. And they were probably right considering he hasn't done much to help them overcome their .01% market share on mobile devices. And just announced today Chrome has overtaken them as the #2 browser in the world.

This was probably a good way to get him out.

So it sounds like you're blaming Mozilla's board of directors, right?

The "gay agenda" groups that protested the CEO's comments didn't do anything to get the guy Carl Peterson'd.

You're clueless about their demo if you don't think Mozilla was going to lose what little market share they are clinging to from this.

From a purely business perspective this was the right move. I don't like the bullying involved but it is what it is.

You're clueless if you think even 1% of their customer base would ever know about this, and that even 1% of THOSE would care enough to switch over it

First, this is extreme and almost witch hunting to me and I don't think I agree with it.

OKCupid put up a webpage asking their users to use something other than Firefox (if the user browsed to the site with FF). The bigger problem is a bunch of Mozilla employees started a twitter campaign to remove him. It's hard to lead when no one believes in you. To his credit, he stepped down of his own volition.

It was all over Facebook and the blogs BEFORE he resigned because sites like OkCupid were adding a popup if you went to their site using Firefox. The site would encourage users to chose a different browser because of the Mozilla CEO's stance on gay marriage. OkCupid has over 3.5 million ACTIVE members (there is your 1% right there, likely because of demographics much much higher) and that was just ONE site, more would have followed.

Microsoft could get away with this because they have a significantly different demographic for the users that choose IE over Firefox or Chrome or Safari. Safari is another prime example of a browser whose demo would go nuts over this issue.

When you say get govt out of the marriage business, does that mean there would simply be no recognition of a married couple? Marriage would solely be a religious ceremony relevant only to the eyes of the particular church and god involved?
