Here is what God says about leadership:

Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4

But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain —and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.Exodus 18:21

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 1 Timothy 3:2

The reason this happens is because the people won't stand for cuts. It's too easy to just blame politicians.

Bullcrap. States have to balance their budgets. Often by simply by eliminating automatic increases or telling departments in 2014 they have the same budget they had in 2013. How draconian!! Damn, why can't the Fed so that just once?

States aren't the primary source of social security, medicare, or national defense and the ones that have balanced budgets generally have a constitution that their politicians can blame for any hard choices they have to make. There's no doubt that politicians generally deserve criticism for being spineless non-leaders, but it's naive to let the people off the hook.

The difference is the states can't print their own money like DC elected officials. Which makes the DC ones less accountable.

The first place that states go when they need money is to raid the Medicare/Medicaid budgets, which slaughters the health care industry.

So you are telling me that every department in the Federal Government couldn't run their department with the same amount of money they got in 2013? Bullshit.

No, I'm not telling you that at all. I'm telling you that there would be hell to pay in the next election after proponents of greater spending for popular programs got done squealing about "cuts".
