Tea Party loses primary in NC

Thom Tillis, from the establishment GOP beats the TP...

http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/06/politi...html?hpt=hp_t2

My guess is the TP doesn't win a single senate primary this go round. The GOP learned its lesson last time with the likes of Aiken et al and will select establishment candidates in the attempt to take back the Senate. They may succeed.

Only a small minority of Republican voters or Congressmen want Immigration Reform. Surely you discovered that over the years in ascertaining why it hasn't happened yet. What exactly is the Democratic Party doing here that offends their own base in order to "compromise" anyway? Or is compromising only mean getting the other side to give in to yours?

It's not really much of a secret or in dispute that republicans in red districts have much more to be a afraid of getting "primaried" from the right than from being seen as obstructionist on any bipartisan efforts. A common attack ad in a super red district is showing Candidate A as having compromised with Obama/democrats on *anything*, followed by claims that Candidate A is not a "true conservative".
I'll ask again: where are the Democrats working across party lines to meet Republicans halfway on an issue? Just tell us - or admit you got nothin.

Leaving aside the inaccurate description about what was offered, making a take it or leave it proposal isn't bipartisanship.

Please list anything democrats could have offered other than to just abandon Obamacare.

Democrats offered tort reform and some other things. Olympia Snowe was almost blackballed by the republicans for even talking to the democrats. Sorry but on this issue it's obvious republicans were in the take it or leave it stance from the beginning. There's absolutely nothing republicans were into except taking the whole thing back to "study" for a few more decades.

I just gave you three examples that you handwaved away.

How about Mitch McConnel saying that making Obama a one-term president was his primary goal. Do you think a lot of bipartisan compromise that Obama could use as a feather in his cap would be a good way to get there?

How about the steakhouse dinner attended by Frank Luntz and every major House republican, when Obama was first elected where it was basically decided that "If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority. We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign."

It's been well-established, including from the Rs themselves, how they met and agreed that Obama would get nothing.
“If he was for it,” former Ohio Senator George Voinovich explained, “we had to be against it.”

This is the kind of insanity that I would like to see go away (basically it's as if Prison Bitch, Live Steam and Glory Dayz ran the House of Representatives). It's tearing this country apart and making us completely dysfunctional.

I agree only its Harry Reid and the Senate causing nothing to get done. But with the half-wit in the White House, it's probably a good thing

This administration has so poisoned the environment that it's lucky to ever get any support or cooperation from Republicans.

IOW, Republicans decided not to lay down but instead to act like democrats have acted for decades when the occupant of the WH was a Republican.

Ha ha yeah I'm sure you believe that. Here we learn poisoning the environment means giving republicans everything they said they wanted on how to implement UHC.

Yeah Tip O'Neil never worked with a republican president on anything. Just sat in the corner and threw a temper tantrum like the House is doing now.

Look dude we're on the same side on this one. You don't like the tea party that much either. I have no problem with moderate republicans like McCain who actually give a shit about making the country better. Let's get the law changed and get Arnie in the White House.

That he's president should be enough for any sane and responsible group of people. At the end of the day, they don't have to agree. But when they have decided prior to him even taking office that there would be no working together, it can make things difficult. They decided beforehand that there would be no good-faith effort.

Your citation of Obamacare as a missed chance for the GOP to show "bipartisanship" (after it passed on strict party lines) is simply awful. I assume it was a joke.

Your citation of Amnesty was only slightly better although terrible, since it's clear one side hates the idea as proven by legislative inaction on this issue.

Your final citation on internet tax'something was an issue I have never even heard of. I'll stipulate you are correct and that it's your crowning achievement in proving the GOP is unreasonable while the Democratic Party is fair-minded.

Pelosi questions Bush's competence

Republicans demand apology

Friday, May 21, 2004 Posted: 8:59 AM EDT (1259 GMT)
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday sharply questioned President Bush's competence as a leader, suggesting his policy in Iraq is to blame for the loss of U.S. lives. That assessment drew a furious response by Republicans who called on the Democratic leader to apologize.

"The emperor has no clothes," Pelosi, D-California, told reporters on Thursday. "When are people going to face the reality? Pull this curtain back."

Pelosi did not back down, even when asked if her comments would undermine Bush's abilities as commander in chief.

"His activities, his decisions, the results of his actions are what undermines his leadership, not my statement," Pelosi said. "My statements are just a statement of fact."
