Tea Party loses primary in NC

Thom Tillis, from the establishment GOP beats the TP...

http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/06/politi...html?hpt=hp_t2

My guess is the TP doesn't win a single senate primary this go round. The GOP learned its lesson last time with the likes of Aiken et al and will select establishment candidates in the attempt to take back the Senate. They may succeed.

Look dude we're on the same side on this one. You don't like the tea party that much either. I have no problem with moderate republicans like McCain who actually give a shit about making the country better. Let's get the law changed and get Arnie in the White House.
Tip O'Neil didn't lay down for Ronald Reagan, he ruled the House like he owned the country. What he had that John Boehner doesn't have is a President that was willing to work with him in a way that both side could come away with something they wanted.

I love the tea party (although I'm not on board for intra-party fratricide) and I'm no fan of John McCain. I do approve of making the country better though.

You're thinking of the word "dictator".

I'm not sure if they decided beforehand that there would be no good-faith effort or not, but if they did, it serves the democrats right for the bad faith they demonstrated for the previous 6 years.

Please cite some examples where you think House republicans would be open to working with Obama.

Republicans shut down the government and threatened to ruin our credit rating to spite Obama. There is no damn way they are compromising with him on anything.

Obama is the most divisive president we've had in my lifetime. When your bargaining position is "I won", you're not going to find people willing to work with you. Maybe he would have been better at it if he hadn't had unstoppable majorities in both houses after his first election. But he did. As a result, he didn't have to compromise, so he didn't. Now his chickens come home to roost.

I'm in agreement with most of what I think the tea party stands for. What I'm not in agreement with is the anger focused on Republicans. I don't believe both parties are the same like some self-identified tea partiers do nor do I believe that establishment Republicans are RINOs. Today's establishment Republicans are pretty conservative compared to the typical Republican of the 70s or early 80s. That said, if I thought he could get elected, I'd rather see Ted Cruz as POTUS than Chris Christie.

I'm also not in favor of the isolationism of the Pauls so to the extent that Rand is a tea party darling, we have a difference of opinion there when it comes to the POTUS election.

Yeah, just that little thing. You're as gung-ho as anyone about global meddling, bombs, drones, and invasions. They want to bury their heads in the sand.

You're also in favor of health insurance mandates. I wonder how they feel about that.

I'm gung ho about having a strong military, being willing to use it but only when necessary to protect our interests, and using the credible threat of force to make our diplomacy more effective.

I think I'm in the minority when it comes to the Republican party and health care mandates, but opposition to Obamacare unites us. Perhaps another form of mandates could get more GOP support or some other GOP idea could satisfy me without mandates.
