What's better since the Democrats took power in 2008?

I'll start with the stock market. My investments in big corporations are doing well.

Name your own. Go.

I don't recall that.
I didn't post because my parents saw the girly picture thread and put CP on the list of restricted sites that I wasn't allowed to use without supervision.

You're insane.

I do recall the BK references though, which I thought was a bit much coming from someone who digs ditches for a living.

To me, Democrats must own Afghanistan in equal parts with Republicans, as both pretty CLEARLY wanted to go in after Obama. Democrats were never keen on Iraq, and were definitely NOT keen on how badly the Bush administration mismanaged (completely ****ed up would be a better phrase) the aftermath of the invasion and toppling of Saddam.

Whether the aftermath was mismanaged or not, the fact remains that by the end of the Bush administration we had gained the upper hand and pacified the insurgency only to see it all squandered by the Obama administration's bungling of the follow through.

I'd mostly agree re: Afganistan. The notion of going in there at least seemed reasonable given the basic facts. However, outside of the basic decision to take action there, it's on Bush as to specific actions taken and how the war was run.

It was. Your political party preferences surely can't render you so blind that you can't see that. If you can't agree on this, then any discussion on Iraq with you is hopeless.

So you say. There are lot of factors involved there, and I'm not sure that "pacification" was anything more than the insurgents waiting and seeing how things went with the US election before ramping things up again, etc.

I haven't paid much attention to Iraq lately, but I'm not sure Bush, Obama, Solomon, or anyone could really "fix" that place. The Sunni/Shi'a fight goes back just a TAD before the existence of the United States, after all, and that is the heart of the violence and political headaches there.

OTOH, US soldiers aren't dying there anymore, and as far as I know nobody there is threatening US interests, and the oil is flowing, so AFAIK things aren't TOO bad there. That said, I haven't paid much attention to the situation there lately.

Of course, your fundamental view of the world is that we can go in, kick ass, and reshape things to precisely how WE want it, at the point of a gun, and since it's not precisely how WE want it (another Ramstein airbase, no doubt, in the middle of the Middle East, exerting US military power into that entire region), then I'm sure you view everything as a dismal failure since Cheney left office.

Note, btw, that BushCo had an INCREDIBLY long period of time to get things the way they wanted. If you don't like what we're left with, maybe they shouldn't have ****ed up so bad and for so long.

Sure, Bush owns the details, but the decision to be there was fully supported by Democrats, many of whom wondered why Afghanistan was a sideshow compared to Iraq, thinking that was bass-ackwards.
