White House exposed top US spy in Afganistan

Obama's team.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...637_story.html

The CIA’s top officer in Kabul was exposed Saturday by the White House when his name was inadvertently included on a list provided to news organizations of senior U.S. officials participating in President Obama’s surprise visit with U.S. troops.

The White House recognized the mistake and quickly issued a revised list that did not include the individual, who had been identified on the initial release as the “Chief of Station” in Kabul, a designation used by the CIA for its highest-ranking spy in a country.

Furthermore, can't this mistake be easily fixed by removing this spy and putting another one in place? I would hope so.

I'll be that he was pulled out of Afghanistan immediately and is already back home. And, I doubt that you're going to see him on the cover of Vogue wearing sunglasses...

Sure we do. It's just another example of this WH's incompetence at best.

Can a station chief be replaced? Sure. Easily? Not necessarily. Some of the work that they do is highly personal and establishing trust is key. That takes time.

That was the justification ( usually a way to excuse a transgression) and claim of the right. However, it's been disputed with contrary facts. So this is not concrete and still does not address the fact that it was not necessary, a sleazy act and was making her a political target because of her husband. Besides, Scooter Libby was convicted of lying to investigators on it too.

BTW, Vladimir Putin was a low level KGB at a desk job.

I didn't say she was "a glorified secretary." She wasn't. Neither was anything close to a station chief.

I don't know what you are referring to with regard to Cheney. I'm sure you have some impeccable sources, though.

Neither did I ay she was a "station chief" or "anything close" to one. My point was that she was not low level. The Bush culprits did call her a "glorified secretary" though.

You asked what were these contrary facts I mentioned. So I gave them to you with a link with her speaking in a video in an interview with Couric. However, that does say she was:
...chief of operations for the CIA's joint task force Iraq, in charge of dozens of officers and analysts.

I didn't say she was low-level, either. I would call her mid-level at CIA, which she would be after 20 years with DO or be a complete **** up.

I have no idea, and I doubt "which did more damage" can be determined based on the criteria you have given.

The fact that Plame was outed as retaliation and to further a cover up of aspects of starting the Iraq War says that her covert status must have been of some importance.

At what level does it start becoming acceptable to out a covert whatever-she-was?

Sure it can. Outing an acting station chief in a rather hostile country or outing a state-side, mid-level DO officer.

I'm not sure that the bold part is accurate. Has it ever been proven that the Bush administration or Bush knowingly lied about Iraq?

As to being a mid-level DO officer, sure, she had some importance.
