I would let the free market play out. Which means what I posted earlier. The over abundance of people willing to work for minimum wage is what sets the market wage.

What you are proposing is to take from mom and pop small business and make them earn less so someone else can earn more. Its either reduce employees and take on the work themselves or they raise their prices to compensate. You don't have a clue what it takes to run a small business.
The majority of companies that pay the minimum wage are not small companies.

If a company cannot pay a living wage and make a profit, it unsustainable and will require government assistance, either to the company or employee. That's what the free market says.

Why do you support unsustainable companies requiring socialism to stay afloat?

What kind of place do you need ? What kind of food do you want to eat?

If you want to live in the big city your going to have to pay more for everything, it sucks been there done that, I did not sit around and wish for a better job and better pay.

Nor did I create a family bigger than four, still it was tough at first,
You go where the money is, you sacrifice get training eat ****ing noodles, peanut butter and jelly rice , you work days and your wife work nights or vice versa, find cheaper rent move if you have too and better yourself by learning new skills for better pay.

There is nothing to be ashamed about getting gov help, tell you can get on your feet and actually make good pay based on your work performance history ,education , and skills

You cant live on boardwalk unless you can afford it, live within your means until you get where you want to be lots of us idiots out here I guess ive been doing it the wrong way for all theses years who knew?
Full time employees should not qualify for food stamps. The minimum wage qualifies you for food stamps in Missouri.

Why do you support socialism?

I don't support Govt assistance for anybody. Not the big banks, Not the Auto Makers, Not Amtrak or any of the other Metropolitan Transportation District. I don't support giving assistance to slackers who smoked dope and drank their way through life and can't get their shit together.

If you want to earn a decent living work your ass off to get it. If that means working 80 hours a week than get off your ass and get to work. This is supposed to be a country of opportunity, they are out there for those that seek it.

Still asking.
We have a couple in this discussion that do own small businesses. They are the ones who have taken risk, worked long hours for no pay to try to get ahead in life. These are real world people and you dismiss their opinions.

Are you trying to say that Democrats keep the minimum wage low, so employees have to turn to the social safety net, so they then vote D?
Close, the democrat party keeps minorities poor, so they have to rely on the social net and continue to vote for the democrat party. The democrat party has no desire to help minorities, if they actually did they would lose their voter base. They play off the minorities ignorance and gullibility. Combine that with the left always screaming racism at anyone that disagrees.

I don't you do!
Are there any full time jobs left or did the new Obama care law force business owners to go part time only?
Just another deduction from your pay, fed tax, state tax, city tax medicare tax social security tax and now health care, coming soon EPA emissions tax, sugar tax, overweight tax, and special tax to bail out California and Detroit failed public union pensions.

There are other places you can live, you don't have to stay in America since its so bad, why not move to a better country that pays you the same if your a janitor or doctor and takes 3/4 your pay so everyone is equal. oh wait is that socialism or fair and equal because we all deserve the same shot!

I hope someone is tracking the wage implications for those currently making from $10-$40/hr.

If you were currently $3-4 above Min wage and min wage is raised to $15, how many of those people will feel obligated to be at $18-19? If you're already a $20/hr person with some skill, something tells me you're now not happy to be that close in salary to an unskilled person who can't get the appropriate number of McNuggets in a 4 piece kids meal.

We are opening new offices over then next 24-36 months and Seattle was on the hot list. We were hesitant a bit for a number of reasons but this put it over the top for us yesterday and we don't even hire minimum wage employees. That will move San Diego up and I gotta tell you, I'm just fine with that.

Well if you are already making 800 to 1000 bucks a week or more. You don't need the bump that the people at the bottom do.

You think someone currently making $15/hour with more responsibility isn't going to ask for a raise when the guy making $8/hour mopping the floor is now making the same as them?
