So the RNC is visiting KC...

Welp, they picked a fine day to be compared to Denver and Dallas... Good!!!

LOL, y'all know I'm a conservative, but I sure hope the weather keeps them away... The LAST thing the hard-working people in downtown need is another daytime event that'll ****-up traffic in an area that's congested with construction gridlock...

Sorry, I'm just not over the tag-team of Standard parking ****ING OVER the parkers in the 13th-and-Grand parking garage by putting in the ****ing piece of shit Arvest bank that took away our only east-side exit onto Grand so that ****ing shitty bank's customers can have a ****ing "downtown" drive-thru banking experience (those corporate money-grubbing slut-whores!!!). Add to it that KC's finest never do a goddamn thing to help folks who actually work downtown/park in that garage by getting a cop (or nine) to direct traffic, and your even more ****ed! Oh, and not that some other ****ing corporate whore is building the new high-rise apartment building at the corner of 13th-and-Walnut and it's all the worse! And I suspect the ****ing beer trucks will STILL park on 13th street right outside of the Flying Saucer and you're quadruple ****ed!

Dear RNC, pick Denver or Dallas, they aren't as stupid as KCMO and their corporate whores prolly don't get away with this much shit!

OK....I feel better!

Knowing your position on this, I've never rooted so hard to bring thousands and thousands of douchebags to KC.

Anyway, won't all those people be a huge boost in sales for your hot dog cart?

No, "my" hot dog cart will be just fine, but thank you for your concern... The good news is, they prolly won't come now!

My next goal, until the ****ers in KCMO get their priorities right (making GloryDayz life better, and the lives of those people who work in KC's downtown, because they pay 1% for the privilege to work in KCMO!!), is to get rid of that stupid Big-12 tournament. Geeez, Missouri doesn't even have a team in the Big-12 - "Off with their heads!!!"... I think OKC deserves it, and they have just a good a venue to host it. And who knows, their mayor might be as dumb as Sly and help with traffic control and might make sure beer trucks don't block on of the two remaining lanes of a three-lane road in the middle of downtown because they're building another apartment building!

But I'm a compromising man... I don't mind it coming to "KC" (the area) as long as they stick it over in JOCO or something. This seems like a great opportunity for the OPCC. And Lord knows JOCO could use the cash!

If anyone deserves Police directing and giving an escort even as far as to save a parking spot. Its the beer trucks and I will salute them as they pass.

There's nothing to do in JOCO and they don't need the cash at all, KCMO needs it. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want such a high-profile event to come to our area. The advertising is priceless.

You know the police who are doing traffic control and work at the stadiums or any where that is controlled privately are doing so off duty and are paid by the private entity. At P&L all the police in that area walking around are off duty, paid by P&L to be there. Traffic control issues at that garage are on the parking company not KCPD. PD around kc are plenty incompetent, but you're wrong about this one.

Oh, my niece is a cop and makes a TON of coin doing such things (in Va. Beach...), so I get it.

All I care about is events like this NOT making it to KC until the stars align and those of us parking in the parking garage at 13th and Grand get some help. Our convenience is more important than the city getting the revenue from such an event! Yeah, that's a piss-poor attitude, but one that's come by after too many daytime events that **** us over.

And, also unrelated, is the fact that the ****ing parking garage assholes allowed that shitty Arvest Bank to go in, grant them enough room to have a drive-through, and take away the parking garage's only east-side exit. Again, not the cities call, or the cops, but hosting events like this, and the Big-12 tournament, just makes things worse.

So I'm happy that it's looking like we won't get this event - it's one small ray of sunshine for a few downtown workers.

Oh, and it IS "the cops" who are letting the beer trucks park in the street instead of forcing them to use the loading docks. So I get a lot of what you're saying, but when a three-lane road has been chopped to two lanes because of ANOTHER construction project, it's time to tell the beer truck guy to use the loading dock or work with the business to do their work at 3:00am - but he isn't going to turn a three-line road into a two lane road because he doesn't want to use the loading dock; at least not without a ticket...

The bank in the garage is bullshit, and they pulled out the US Bank ATM when the deal was announced and didn't even replace it with one from Arvest.

From what I understand there's quite the mix of parties (the city, the police, the garage and JE Dunn) that have some bit of control over the 13th street exit. Everyone was pointing fingers at everyone else and it's only after someone started *really* pushing it with everyone we've got some kind of progress.

As far as tickets go, I agree with the beer trucks (even tough they do seem to be up on the curb and not blocking lanes) needing to be closely monitored but I'd be more interested with seeing someone up 13th to run those people off who park in front of Block in the afternoons.

Oh and as far as the RNC convention goes, bring it. The city needs the revenue and the attention despite the fact that we might be inconvenienced as downtown tenants.

Plus, I've never seen a riot in person before and this will be the best opportunity to do so without having to travel to a G7 conference.
