Eric Cantor is in trouble

This could be a little early, but the House Majority Leader appears to be going down.

He was expected to easily turn aside a tea party challenger, but Eric Cantor is now losing by a whopping 11 points in his primary with about 51% of precincts reporting.

According to govtrack.us Cantor is called a centrist.

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/mem..._cantor/400060

His average on missing votes is higher than the average.

Boom..... It's time for the rest of the right-wing to understand that it's time to take off the gloves and fight the LWNJs ruthlessly...

I'll have to take time off of work to help with conservative events touting "vote early and often" efforts.

It doesn't even cover 2014 which the Freedomworks number is based on alone. The FW's one showed he had a better rating some other years--not all by huge leaps but better. Some were conservative years. But for 2014 he's lower at 44% but 56% from 1999-2013. That appears to be his range. He's not really conservative. Fairly conservative would be around 75%. Leaning would be about 65% based on what the conservative ideology is about; limited govt, low taxes etc.
"Fairly conservative" from the viewpoint of a normal person who is themselves not necessarily conservative, would be a lot lower on a scale created by Freedomworks.

Thats the problem with these ratings, once their party pretty much supports an issue they care about more than 90-95%, they stop scoring that vote. They artificially cherry-pick the votes to make certain they have people falling along a broad scale.

I don't give a damn about someone's need to create an attractive rating system that creates seperation from the tiniest of differences, is he conservative, yes or no? Just look at the votes.

On a quick glance, I noted that Cantor voted against Obamacare every chance he got, voted to defund planned parenthood, voted to cut support for NPR, voted for the Paul Ryan budgets, etc. This is a very conservative dude when compared to the nation.

You might view those as "boring" "no-brainer" votes that every Republican should be for, but the house republicans are extremely conservative, and failing to be the most right-wing of THAT group is not evidence at all of not being conservative.

Well, I would think he should be judged by conservatives--real ones--not folks on the left. Today's left is so far left, they think someone 56% on limited govt voting is an extremist. It says more about them.

Now a normal person? Whatever normal means. Sounds pretty subjective. I don't consider knowing what conservatism really is, may be known by the average person today anyway. Yet, they can still form an opinion about it in free country. Just have to look at what they know and when you see these "normal" or average folks get interviewed on the street who don't know who is Secretary of State, one has to wonder.

Well, that's sounds like an assumption. The long term voting record of Cantor tells me enough.

Well there's conservative here already who are familiar with his votes or stands and they have called him a RINO.

Paul Ryan's budgets were a joke. His budget wasn't a whole lot different than Obama's. As to the other votes, he has had conservative years just not in 2014. But you're cherry picking what he has voted on as conservative. The system used from 1999-2013 has compiled such records for decades on all congresscritters.

There are more conservatives in the House, in fact more Tea Partiers there. We'll have to disagree, since true Conservativism, using the Constitution as a guide, is not being "most right-wing." It's actually a balance between too much govt and too little per our Framers. We've been so far off course of that, it gets a bad name from the left.

Well, he's a liar because I never said Cantor was a liberal. I just said he was not conservative.

Well, if Cantor is a conservative then why would he do this with Soros?

Republican Cantor to Headline Anti-Tea Party Conference Sponsored by George Soros & Unions

Speaker Boehner was even going to attend. Love the letter that Bozell wrote calling him out for working with a group dedicated to the destruction of grass roots conservatives.

So glad he didn't win.

I hear Paul Ryan, McCain, Graham and McConnell are vying for amnesty too.
