Skme good from the Wookies Forced Food program

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. – First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy school lunch menu is finally getting some love from a group of young eaters.

Some 3,000 pigs at My Blue Heaven Farm in Rhode Island have been dining on students’ lunch leftovers from two nearby school systems, according to WoonsocketCall.com.

The pigs are enjoying “half-eaten tuna sandwiches and other food scraps students discard during their lunch periods” as part of a new recycling program established by the town of Cumberland, the news site reports.

The recycling program has been so successful that officials are planning to expand it in the fall.

The school food that’s being “repurposed” as pig feed is described as “nutritious,” and it certainly is.

So, Zilla, I'd say a small percentage of the kids in that school were overweight. There were quite a few international students with foreign parents. ONE, of whom, had an overweight child.

According to a chiropractic nutritionist who puts on courses at his place, it takes one generation for bodies to change from eating poor quality or unhealthy food. This is America today over more than one generation—co-existant with the change in our food. (processing, gmao, chemical farming, fructose, fast food)

Mandatory = required
Voluntary = not required

That's what I figured. The fact that this type of education isn't standard in any school is just mind-boggling. And sadly, probably often influenced by the wrong types of interests. The solution should be so simple. It obviously doesn't fix everything, but I would imagine that if every kid in school so much as took one home ec class teaching the right things, that would make a world of a difference.

It's NO different than a lobbyist being paid to get what you want, or a BIG donation to a politician. They're all voluntary too. But they are still undue influence. The federal govt should not have such undue influence over what is supposed to be the authority of a local school district.Those districts are closer to the people in their area attending the school. National money makes it easier to not feel the increase in costs for that food as it's harder to see. It reduces parental involvement over input too.

It's amusing that people are so willing to pretend an optional program is mandatory if it allows them to complain.

Tell me how voluntary it is when people in states with less schools or in more rural areas are taxed to pay for kids across the country?
