It's not my fault that one line is normally sufficient to ridicule some of the posters here.

Jesus didn't pick up the tip.

Jesus picked up the whole tab for all of us when he was crucified.

That is worth giving thanks for.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

What about a snack? Are you supposed to pray before a snack, or is it just meals? If you have a few Oreos at 3 o'clock--pray?
I am NOT an expert on this, but if I was devising policy I would probably say that you pray before anything that requires a utensil. piece of cake? Yes. eating some grapes? No. it creates a bit of a religious debate on prayer when eating an apple that you slice up with a pocket knife.

Pray whenever you want. There's no rule. It's just a customary thing.

Now that I think about it, perhaps a better policy would be to pray based on the nutritional value of the food. If it is something nutritious like a salad, you should pray. But if it's something like a candy bar, you shouldn't pray, because in that case God is trying to kill you.
