He's not good. He's a good athlete and he can play at a high level at times but he's not the answer. He's not the guy we hoped he would be and he's sure as hell not worth the money.

I agree to a point and it exposes Smith too as a phone booth only guy. Not worth $20 million.

I'm not saying we should have paid Orlando Brown but we paid the price tonight.

So we ended up with this guy because KC didn't have a viable starter at either tackle spot and BV overpaid to at least lock one spot up.

You want to roll the dice on that again?

Yup

Taylor is a tough one. I'm one of the people who never saw it, thought his pass-pro was overrated and his run blocking awful. I hated the contract and still do, and would love us to find a way to move on.

But also, the options we had once we bailed on Orlando were awful, and he has looked pretty horrible for the Bengals this year. Maybe there's a world where we keep Brown, draft a Wylie upgrade at RT and it works out better. Could absolutely see that. But equally, it might have been the best option from a bad bunch.

The bigger shame, certainly for this year, was having drafted guys like Morris and Kingsley that just haven't been up to it, and not hitting on an OT the last few years. Tough one.

Orlando probably enjoyed that game tonight. Can't help but think if you had Orlando at LT and Thuney at LG, the game would have been a lot more competitive.

Jawaan wasn’t near as bad when you actually look at the tape. He had a few bad plays vs Graham but Patrick ****ing ran into the DE on his own accord.

Thuney and Caliendo were the primary culprits and Trey Smith got his ass kicked by Jalen Carter.

Yeah, I don't understand pining for Orlando Brown after he missed half the season being a brokedick. We'd be in the same situation.

Not possible. There is one more guaranteed year on his deal.

He took less money to play elsewhere. Cant really blame Veach on that one. He was offering higher than market.

He's a guard. Guards get to play in a phone booth. When a guy with iffy lateral ability has to protect laterally he has to do that first. That left him I'll prepared for power. It is what it is. Can't blame Thuney for doing his best. The staff should have put him back inside at half to attemp to rectify part of the issue.

Yeah I don’t get the hate from some here. I thought Taylor played well. A bad couple reps but that will happen. He was really good most of his reps though.
It just feels like some fans have decided to make him a whipping boy for some reason and will attack him no matter what. I’d it spin off from Chris Collingsworth? If so, you are a terrible fan.

Sassy Squatch 02-10-2025 10:18 AM

4 pressures in a half doesn't just happen. That's a mediocre to bad game, much less one half of a game.

irafreak 02-10-2025 10:22 AM

Well andy didn't do his line any favors deciding not to run the ball. Bizarre gameplan.

RunKC 02-10-2025 10:24 AM

Play at 57 seconds in that clip I posted is the perfect example of Taylor blocking his man and Mahomes running into the pressure and Taylor getting dinged for it.

Mahomes was a problem this game too
